Again, I disagree. We see NFL GMs making all kinds of moves, some very questionable. It would only take one starter going down on a playoff team and that team not having a decent backup, for a GM to make that move. If two starters go down, then it's a bidding war.

BS. Garoppalo went for a 2nd round pick and Teddy is better and has a lot more experience than Garoppalo.

Wait so it's a guarantee that a starter on a playoff team will go down (your words, not mine) but the fact that it didn't happen last year doesn't make a damn difference? Interesting.

A healthy Teddy in NOLA sounds like a perfect fit TBH. I remember reading some mocks in the winter that had Action Jackson going there.

I'm not sure about this my guy. Obviously it remains to be seen with Jimmy but I think the same is true for Teddy as well.

Both look to have great potential but right now I would say Jimmy G is ahead of Teddy.

Now all we gotta do is hope NO doesn't have a spectacular year and that 3rd round pick is somewhere in the high 90's.

That's not what I said smart ass, and you know it. I said, "It's almost a guarantee." Every season is different in the NFL. If you have any brains in your head, you know that, and just because something happened one season or didn't happen, has zero bearing on whether it happens the next season or not.

    Won't matter, it'll be Oakland's problem.

Jimmy could wind up being better in the long run (but I doubt it), but it's a fact that Teddy has more starting experience.

Teddy, in a vacuum, is definitely worth a 2nd maybe even a late 1st but his 1-year deal downgrades his value.

Oh, sorry, it's almost a guarantee. That makes things WAYYYY different.

By the way who went down the year before that? Or the year before Bradford? Really, other than the Bradford year, when has a team panicked and traded a first for a backup because they were a playoff team and their starter went down?

You're out of your mind. Take the rose colored glasses off. A guy who hasn't played a full regular season game in 2 seasons, has thrown 2 passes in 2 years, and is coming off a horrendous knee injury is worth a #1 in your mind? Jeez.

A 3rd rounder is solid return for him. As long as Mac doesn't shit the bed with it.

You’re banking on a non guaranteed event happening in an 8 week window to get a pick that’s at most 1 round better?

You have a point, but again, if a playoff team loses its starting QB for the season or even a big chunk of it, imo it wouldn't make that much difference that Teddy only has a one-year contract with the Jets, especially after what happened in Philly last season.

His $5M comes off the books and can be rolled into next year I believe.

Right but San Francisco gave up "franchise" compensation for Jimmy -- even then, at the time of the trade New England was criticized for accepting such little compensation.

In our situation, the Saints, and seemingly all other teams, were only willing to give up "back up" compensation. This was the conundrum the Jets found themselves in because Teddy was clearly more capable than a mere back up. That being said, I feel like a 3rd round pick is premium compensation for a back up.

Also Manish is saying there is another component to this deal. I'm wondering if a pass rusher is on the way from NO.
