My whole point to this was that all the Jets had to do was wait until the 3rd or 4th game into the season to simply play Teddy for few games to see how he OL is holding up and to make TB's trade value much more appealing. It's gambler playing his hand out to get the pot going. That's what football trades and picks are all about, isn't it? Has nothing to do about a washed season because I was not expecting the Jets to be contenders anyway.
So, you mock me as just a guy on the internet making a comment, while those expert analysts that thought the Geno Smith pick being a good one gets a free pass?
That was the other dude that mocked you, not me. I just don't remember the Geno picked really being applauded. Maybe I remember wrong.
My Haiku poem for this trade....A traditional Japanese haiku is a three-line poem with seventeen syllables, written in a 5/7/5 syllable count. haiku emphasizes simplicity, intensity, and directness of expression. Bye Bye Bridgewater Thank You Saints For 3rd Round Pick Make Mack Happen Mac
IMO Macc rolled the dice and won on the Teddy pickup. We got a 3rd for a 6th. It cost $500,000 and maybe less to the extent that Saints are picking up the guaranteed portion. I don't think he ever meant to have him on the roster Week 1.
pretty good return on the investment - my mate was scoffing at our chances of getting anything for him in a trade
Apparently the team was on the bus, Teddy was told on the bus that he had been traded, and then we kicked him off the bus.
Odds are I'll be doing it - this the NFL and players get hurt every day on every team. ESPECIALLY QB's You can have the last word because I'm going to argue with those like you that have blinders on: LOLOLOLOLOLOL = Laughing Out loud out loud out loud out loud out loud out loud
No, I don't play that game. That's 20-20 hindsight--I judge deals like this right in the here and now. If you want to wait until that second rounder has played 3 years in the league to judge this move, that's up to you.
Sell at the highest demand of course it makes sense. But we were gonna let his trade value dictate the entire start of the season w a chance no opposing QB gets hurt? What type of message does this send to the locker room?Yes many believe he was better than sam overall but the whole thing is kinda wishy washy. This is doing right by Teddy, doing right by Sam,doing right by the locker room & they got a pretty good pick. Youd have a better argument if this was a day 3 pick. The Darnold era is officially here & we’re already winning in the future department.
You would rather have a kid who never played a meaningful game starting behind this line ? I would rather have played Teddy and brought up his trade value until I was sure the kid and the rest pf the team were ready.
I wish Bridgewater luck in the future...by all accounts a great dude The compensation is solid for us. It was the best out there right now Sure we could’ve waited and pissed off either McCown or Teddy by making them 3rd string .....and then waited for a team without a good backup QB to lose their starter that was willing to throw more at us for Teddy Who’s to say that would even happen? What if we start off strong and it was an AFC team that we wouldn’t want to help? Just take the 3rd round pick and be happy
Give examples of what ?? You need to prove to me how you think Sam Darnold is not going to get sacked every game by that horrid OL. Did you even notice how he was running for his life in the Giants game? Seriously dude, you must have really dark rosy cover glasses there! And this was just the Giants......in preseason no less. Whats going to happen when they really face better front 7's teams like the Browns or the Broncos, or Vikings?
It appears we are in the minority but as I told a friend a short while ago I have 50 years of the Jets getting it wrong on my side. I hope and pray Darnold is ready and the line does not get him killed
Am puzzled as to how I lost you. I disagreed with your statement that it's only the media and fans that cause a QB controversy. In years past, I remember players on the Jets lobbying for one QB over another. Sure, the media and the fans may clamor for a QB change, and that may put pressure on some owners, GMs, HCs, but not on the better ones. I think QB controversies can and ultimately do happen when players on the team are divided over who they think is best. Does that clear it up any?
