I really hope this doesn't mean they plan to play coy with the QBs in the draft. Hopefully what this move means is they've had enough of Petty and Hackenberg.
Maybe we get him anyway trading up with the two second rd. picks after taking Chubb? I'd be a happy camper I need another QB from the draft
Mannish saying it’s still QB in round 1 I just don’t understand why you sign both. Is the plan to bury the rookie on the depth chart?
If the Jets can find a C via FA, I don't mind making a trade-back into the first to grab a QB. So many scenarios that are available. Jets need to come away with a QB or EDGE rusher this draft no doubt about it. Chubb will transform this defense.
Why shouldn't they let the rookie sit and learn for a year? Throwing them into the fire right away didn't really work with Sanchez and Geno, let the kid (especially if it's Allen) actually learn NFL football for a year before playing.
Hack won't be cut this year, Petty is surely a gonna though. Hack is too cheap to be cut and Mac will still have his fingers crossed and now we have two QB's to teach him lol
Jets will get one of Rosen, Darnold, Mayfield, or Allen. Bridgewater will be cut before the season starts there will be no point in carrying him with Mayfield and McCown who will be mentoring him. Why do we need Bridgewater as a 3rd stringer?
Hopefully they don't feel forced into getting one of those bunk ass rookie QBs. Mark my words here and now: "Theodore Bridgewater will be a signed to a multi year deal after a masterful 2018 season and go on to become a Jets legend." - DarrelleRevis.Human?
Dude is dangerous short to medium and has excellent ball placement. CANNOT WAIT ... yall sweating Mayfield and he doesn't have a great arm either.
1 year is perfect. If he's 100% healthy and can't beat out McCown, he's out the door. Hopefully there is a team option for 2nd year.
McCown I assume is going to retire and move to coaching after this year so perhaps we see Bridgewater doing well and resign him during season or worst case let him go if our rookie QB develops well. Feel like this gives us flexibility either way on a short term basis without effecting the cap long term
Signing a C soon would really make things start to look a lot better looking ahead at players and options.
The Jets will need to trade up, if they can do it, they will ... however don't count on it. If you draft Allen, he is an absolute 3rd stringer and you sit him down and let him develop. Darnold can afford to sit as well. Rosen is the most pro ready QB. Mayfield, if you scheme enough around him you got someone.
Could very well explain why the Jets didn’t hire a QB coach (Bates is officially OC/QBC) McCown to mentor a rookie and then retire straight into coaching him? Would give a unique perspective
