I kind of disagree with doing this. If he looks good and has a decent pre season , give him the job.
I agree that with some QBs waiting and preparing them is the right way to go , but for me this kids got all the tools AND has poise and intelligence.

I agree but you still have to take shots down the field, to loosen a defense up, even Flacco took some deep shots every game, but for this we need an upgrade at receiver....

That's why I wish Shotty left, I know we scored a lot of points, but I think we did inspite of his playcalling...I was hoping for Zampese...

Where did Ratliff come from? I never even heard his name mentioned until Erik Ainge got in trouble....

Butte College...lol. Now isn't that a vehicle for jokes? Actually, he finished up at Utah.

He wasn't my first choice, but I'm not upset at retaining him. His offense performed rather well the first year he was here, and looked really good at times this year. It'll be interesting to see how he handles it now that he has full control.

Actually, I'm making an assumption that he DOES have full control now, and didn't under Mangini. I have no way of knowing whether or not either one of those things is true.

If he's ready he should play, that's up to the CS to determine but I think barring injury we'll see him get a legit shot in '10.

Having a game manager doesn't mean you don't take shots downfield ever. We just need a guy who isn't going top turn it over 2-3 times a game.

I think we need an upgrade at receiver, Cotchery is a good #2, Coles should leave....

Its good in a sense that we will have continuity on offense. But this team needs to be a run first team, dont rely heavily on your QB.

Our starting duo is excellent but we do need depth and maybe a HR hitter.

Sorry to say U are way, way, way, way over estimating the starting personnal of the D. The starting keepers are Harris, Rhodes, Jenks, Revis & with a very biig (?) Pace & I mean a big (?). That means we need 2 starting DBF players 3 LBers & 2 DL which equals more then 50% of our ppresent starting D 11

Who do we replace him w/? It MAY be time to move on, if we are getting Boldin I'm ok w/ it but I don't have Cotch and Stuckey as our starting WRs next year.

What is it about Zampese that you liked? I can't imagine anyone knows anything about him other then he is the son of a pretty good former offensive coachl

Actually, running the ball would have been the wrong call as well. There should have been play action followed by a short pass for the first down. If Jones runs he gets stuffed.

I think what alot of people are overlooking is that Ratliff acutally is the guy that emulates the other team's QB. That experience in itself is huge in that Rat got to see tendencies of other successful QB's AND also had the advantage of talking to Farve and hopefully picking up good habits..

I think Ratliff might be alot closer to starting for this team than alot of people think..

Less of a risk. You get to play around with Megatron and Kevin Smith (who I think could be a great back if used properly). Lower expectations. The big thing, though, is that you stand a better chance of being quickly elevated to the HC position on a losing team. Basically, it comes down to pride and competitive spirit vs. the selfish desire for personal success and career progress. Seems like a no brainer, but a lot of people would choose the latter.
