Bf did lay an egg in that game and played well enough to lose. We Chad bashers do not make excuses when other Qb's play bad. We don't have too. Say what you want Chad is not in the same class as Farve. Period!!!
I don't think anyone is saying that if you compare their whole careers. Jet fans only care about Favre for this year, and this year they are both playing about as well, Favre is on the better team.
What game has the D played poorly in where Favre led us to a win this year? Miami? nope Ari? nope. The D created 6 1st half Tos Cincy? Nope Oak? Nope KC? Nope Buf? Nope NE? YES, this is the ONLY game the D played poorly and we won. Let's not act like favre has been carrying us all season. This is what drives me nuts. Some frontrunner who has a man crush on a player switches teams in August then tells long time jet fans who to root for. It's comedy. Who do you think you are fooling?
Farve is on the better team but he has also made plays in games we have won that Chad would not have. The throw to coles this weekend for the T/D was the last one. If Chad were on this team I don't know if our record would be the same.
We can argue what-ifs and go in circles for days. On the flip side, Chad's team isn't as good as ours and they've beaten all three teams that beat us, so who knows what would have happened?
As a Favre convert, I was an outside observer looking in on the Jets for all the years Pennington was here. I always thought he was good, regardless of whether or not he had a strong arm. And I knew as soon as Brett became a Jet and Pennington became a Dolphin both would help their teams a lot. I was actually surprised the Jets cut him and let him go to a division rival because I knew that would bring another threat to Brett and the Jets (same deal with the Packers not wanting to just cut Favre). But anyways, not every pro-Favre thread has to be a bash-Pennington thread. Favre has played great recently and it really doesn't matter if Chad would be playing worse, just as well, or better. What matters is Favre is playing at an MVP level right now and the Jets have won 5 in a row. Also I stand by all my statements that Favre is arguably a top 5 QB of all time and that if he continues to play like he has been in recent weeks he's an MVP candidate for the year. You can go into all the "what ifs" you want but the reality is the stats are there to back up these statements.
I don't think the confidence in the locker room or the new mentality that the players and fans have created would be here this year. The W/L record may be one or two games different, but this wouldn't be the only argument between all of us. Chad threads and the SOJ mentality would still be here. I think this franchise just needed to move on and they saw that. We need to do the same. I thank Chad for his good years, but I don't even think about him or what he is doing in Miami. I'm focused on the Jets this year.
you said it yourself. "who knows what would've happened"? these what if scenarios are stupid and wont go anywhere.
Everything you said here is fair. The part I bolded is the part a lot of Jet fans on here just don't get, or can't get. One or the other.
Maybe that is true but players were saying the same things about Chad in '02, '04 and '06 and they are saying those things in Miami now. It is apparent now that we made the right move for Favre. He has been playing excellent football and I'm not sure where we'd be now w/ Chad. I know we'd be good but would we be as good? Probably not but that doesn't mean I shouldn't appreciate what Chad did and that doesn't mean Chad sucks just b/c Brett is also playing excellent football now.
OK, we get it, the Chad squad isn't on the Brett bandwagon. This is the bandwagon thread for Brett. Can we take the argument back to the other Brett thread?
couldn't say it any better. And Chad helped us out twice this year. He lost to us in week 1 and then beat the Pats. He did his job to help his old team.... he's still a Jet in that capacity.
It's kinda ironic that you could say the exact same thing about what's going on on Packer boards, except change Chad to Brett, plus other obvious difference. e.g. change "couldn't throw five yards" to "couldn't avoid throwing 1-2 picks a game" (which is a lie, as statistics bear out). You can imagine it's heated up considerably today, after the 3 pick performance of Rodgers yesterday. These controversies will always happen, and probably never end, I guess.
The difference is, both the Fins and Jets clearly benefited this year. It is getting increasingly harder to argue that the Packers have benefited this year. Maybe in later years, but it seems pretty clear that they lost BIG TIME this year. 13-3 to 5-6. Yes, the O-line is older, yes there have been injuries, but this is one HELL of a falloff.
As an official member of "Brett's Bandwagon" fan club I would just like to clarify a couple of points. Bandwagon fans usually jump on to a team who is already winning. I jumped into the fan base of a 4-12 team just as many other Favre fans had done. I promised myself that as long as Brett got more respect here with the Jets at the end of his career; then I had found a new team to root for (whatever the record). Being a long term Packer fan, I was devastated at how Brett's HOF career was being ended in Green Bay (being sent his locker etc etc etc). I don't think that will happen here and because of that, I am happy to have found a "long term home". GO FOR IT BRETT :jets:
noone is saying chad is not good, but chad is not going to win a super bowl, ever. why is it all you favre bashers start arguments with those of us who are excited we have a qb who we believe can actually get us a championship? if you believe chad was that caliber qb after his injuries you're blinded by man love. by the way winston was right about the phins game, i was at bww had the jets game on one tv and next to us were patriots fans watching pats phins game. again i dont think anyone is saying chad is a bad qb or having a bad year but it would be nice if every time we had a thread talking about favre or to compliment him, thank him, bash him, whatever chad lovers didnt have to bring up our past qb and try to belittle what favre has done for us.
Most football fans knew the Jets would be good this year w/ or w/o Brett w/ all the moves we made in the offseason and w/ the fact that we have been an every other year team since 2002.
well he still cant seem to close games out or come from behind in the fourth quarter,he couldnt against us the texans and the patriots on sunday. hes still having a decent year though.
