I have to say this, that second video..the dropped pass, thats a pretty impressive quick release. Never noticed that before. If your accurate and have a quick release, to go along with a strong arm, hey you have to give him at least a look.

Jets go with K Clemens or Brett Ratliff and there is a good chance they have a good shot at S Bradford at number 1 in 2010. Jets one strength on offense is they have a pretty good run blocking oline. NOw you start K Clemens or Brett Ratcliffe teams are going to load up to stop the run. Dare the Jets to beat them with the pass- not going to happen with either QB. Once opposing team stop the run, now you get in dangerous territory. Everyone knowing you have to pass and you have one of the worst pass blocking Oline. A recipe for disaster.

Thats why I say no way Jets don't get experience QB to lead them in 2009. Going to be tough selling those psl in 2010 coming off a miserable season in 2009( Goping to happen Jets start either Clemens or Ratliff.

How did we have one of the worst pass blocking lines Joe? We were 11th from least in sacks given up this year (30) with an immobile statue at QB while your glorified Raiders were 9th most (39) with your apparent franchise QB at the controls.

a QB who can "roll out" and avoid sacks too. he is also known for fumbling the ball like a greasy hamburger. Fat Left Tackles can't play QB.

YEs Jets had one of the worst pass blocking olines around.(Faneca and Woody strength is clearly run blocking and not pass blocking) The fact is Jets relied heavily on their running game and the fact they kept the same blueprint on offense that they had on offense with Pennington- short passing game. Those two factors cut down their sack total alot.

Again teams take away the run and force Jets in obvious passing situations and that sack total going to go way up. Also for all Brett favre problems he still was an experienced QB , you put an inexperience QB back there, and it could get ugly real fast.

BTw- Raiders sack total was really bad consider how few times they threw the ball- Again thats why you will see them upgrading that tackle position Your locked in on the oline with Faneca and D woody.

But I thought Tom Cable was genius OL guy?? And this new dude is supposed to be the best in the West??

Why adjust anything? Just let those genius King Midas guys do their thing.

ONLy guy hijacking this thread is you. Stay on topic or move on.

Again NO one believe my analysis last year they didn't have any LB good in coverage and they were going to struggle stopping the pass.

IM going on record Jets go with either K Clemens or Brett Ratliff as their starting QB Jets offense going to really struggle in 2009. Running game going to take a big step back.

you picked up on that! Good for you Joe.

anyway, these kids aren't the future. Expect a Vet or a drafted QB.

the late rounds will be OL depth this year. kinda liking Hunter as a backup.

Wish we still had Smith - he could play 2 positions on the line.

Do you even watch the games? Raiders ran the ball 10th most in the NFL (459 carries). Raiders passed the ball 421 times, second fewest in NFL.

You have more sacks given up with less pass attempts yet our oline has to worry about pass protection? Get the fuk on Joe... D Woody showed nothing but good things this year, he wasn't a liability in either phase of blocking.

Finally You said something I agreed with. Jets are going to get that veteran QB- I say Jeff Garcia. (perfect QB for the Jets next season) NOt going to make mistakes, has pretty good mobility and Gives Jets a chance to rely on their running game. Also buys some time for them to get their QB of the future ready.

Too much is riding on next season for Woody Johnson to gto with either youngster at QB.(It recipe for disaster)

Again stay on topic . Reread what I wrote . I believe i admited that. The point was Jets are locked into Faneca and Woody. (so how can they be replaced) How are you improving both liability in pass protection. D woody is a very good run blocker who is not very good pass blocker. I don't know what games you were watching.

BTW to ,make a point Dolphins went from 43 sacks in 2007 to 26 sacks in 2008. You don't think Pennington and short passing game didn't play a hugh factor into that improvement.

Faneca we may be locked into, but I do believe Woody's contract has little guaranteed so that if cut he isn't a big liability.

Faneca's intangibles do make up for his diminishing skills, but he is going to need replacement soon

As WSW points out, I hope its more in line with the progress and future potential of Ratliff that he gets a shot at the top spot. That means we may have a up and coming prospect, not that Clemens has regressed and Ratliff gets it by default. And , correct, history is not on our side. I look at what we have a realistic shot at (Qb) in the draft, and I dont see them starting this year. We bring in a free agent and we go thru the whole "learn the system, gel with players" one or two year band-aid and he may be no better than what we have now. Both the kids know the system and the players and thats gives them a good head start. I dont really think that any of the FA QB's available to us get us to the SB next year. I will be happy with making the playoffs and that will rely on what Rex can do with our defense

I can see what all the intrigue is with Ratliff, But I agree with those who say he has no portfolio to speak of. To look at him right now as our future is a big leap of faith. You got nothing to base it on.
I for one am tired of the never ending Quarter Back search and would rather see the Jets just settle with a player and stick with him.

Let's see Ratliff play against a first team D before deciding. But I'll tell you this he has the size 6-4, 235 lbs, the arm & the ability. I think he will prove that he can do the job when given the chance.

    Joe,

I actually find you quite interesting. Your loyalty is actually refreshing.

My problem with the whole Raider thing is the the tough guy Raider outfits..with the weapons and chains....but the makeup has always given me this "out of the closet" feeling when it comes to Raider fans.

Its like being a Hulk Hogan fan and catching him walking out of Walmart in a mini dress and pumps.

Anyway, Raider fans really do not have a right to discuss other teams problem at the qb position. You have to pick and choose your threads carefully Joe. If you go by recent history..I would search for any threads that have the word "LIONS" in the thread title..and start from there.
