Since our only goals for the rest of the season are avoiding injury and getting a better draft pick, I'm curious as to see who people think will have a breakout year next year. I'm going with Herndon. He has shown the ability to catch and run with the ball the last few weeks, and I think once we get some other weapons on offense he has the potential to be a top 10 tight end as far as catches are concerned.
Hopefully Darnold. I'd like to watch meaningful football late in the season. A good QB is the best way to do that. I like the Herndon answer. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk
I got Herndon and Roberts. He's more than a great return guy if used properly. That will take a new OC which in all likelyhood means a new HC.
Again, they do have balls. They give DUI offenders repeated chances and sign players following them posting images depicting killing police officers on their Twitter. Darnold is the obvious bet. A new coach with a new scheme that actually works at the NFL level would work wonders. He has proven he has the talent, now its getting the pieces around him. Herndon is a safe bet to breakout. This is someone you could argue has already "broken" out but I'm gonna say Enunwa. Enunwa has a ton of talent but the way he is being utilized is next level stupid. Nothing we run gets this guy in space, no posts, no slants, no crosses. Get him the ball in space and watch what happens.
Pretty much the guys you see potential in and want that to carry over next year. Darnold McGuire Herndon Luvu Copeland Anderson
So one of the four or five guys having a halfway decent season for us is the quior boy with the Tweets. I think this only serves my point that we need more football players and fewer boy scouts if we ever want a shot at the AFC East division.
Jet fans love to overrate their players but the only ones with breakout potential would be Darnold and Herndon. The rest are just average players with low ceilings.
I would argue in favor of those DL players I named that they would be more successful with a better scheme and coach. Our secondary has been terrible and likely if they were coached a little better, we would get more production from these low-ceiling guys.
