I think D'Brick is the best OLer in the draft, but you may be right, there may be others. Traditionally, the best NFL linesmen have seldom been the most obvious first round choices that combine speed and strength the way D'Bricksaw has. If the Jets pick as good or better one later in the first round, it would make up for the bust that will be Reggie Bush in 2006 and beyond, a Blair Thomas for a new generation. But why take chances? Let's get the guy everyone says is the best OLer in the market, and at the same time avoid the bullet that is the overrated Jeff Lageman of this draft.
I have a prediction: Bush won't be picked until half an hour in. ... Even though the Texans have signed Williams, they will still take the full 15 minutes to make their selection, as will New Orleans. I hate how ESPN dictates the pace of the draft. The top 5 picks shouldn't long at all. There's a limited amount of possible scenarios, and each one should have been explored already. Even potential trades should have been discussed with other teams already determined.
they just need to lower the 1st round time limit to 10 minutes. it's such a TV thing now that they need to lower the time limits
It is BS... every team takes the whole damn 15 minutes and it gets boring real quick. 10 minutes 1st round 7 minutes 2nd round 5 minutes 3rd-7th rounds
that would be good. I was listening to Mike and Mike today on my way home from work and they were talking about the same thing. You have 3 months (more for the teams drafting at the top) to figure out what you're going to do, why do they need 15 minutes to make a selection??
I think 15 minutes is understandable in the middle to the end of the first round, where more trades happen and scenarios are less predictable. It's really hard to plan for who may fall or go earlier than you expected in the late teens. However, the early picks are pretty much known (to the guys making the picks at least). ESPN just forces the picks to not be announced right away, so that they can introduce 42 different clueless analysts.
The only chance for that would be this scenerio: Hou) Williams NO) Ferguson Ten) Bush NYJ) Auction off Leinart/Young (most likely to Arizona or St. Louis) That's got a chance of happening, but it's a very slim chance.
i am shocked the jets have to trade to 2 because either we get stuck with dbrick or we have a slim chance of landing lienart because it then solidifies they will go for matt
I don't mean to be a hater, but... Last year it was more like... Curtis for 2 Pennington sacked for a loss of 6, ouch there goes his shoulder Fiedler sacked for a loss of 8, ouch there goes his shoulder Nice Aussie punt So I'd love Reggie, but I won't complain w/ D'Brick.
Well, that makes my first pick (guess) a winner. They took him because they need Defense and the dollars are within their budget. Reggie and his agent were talking about more then they wanted to have to deal with....and there won't be any delay in getting Mario on board. No protracted bargining and late signing holding Bush out of camp.
