How dare they start a backup QB for a couple series' in a preseason game! The Eagles should start Sanchez for a couple drives as well. It'll be fun to watch! Come on! They charge full price for preseason tickets, at least give them a semi respectable product! My guess is that they are starting Vick to better evaluate the 2nd string WRs for the final cuts.
you play your backup QB's in the preseason. especially ones learning a new offense, or ones getting used to a new team.
Yup but if Boyd throws for 400 yards and 6 TDs he won't make it to our practice squad. But I doubt Idzik is laying awake at night worrying about that happening.
I made a post about a month ago wondering aloud how Rex would handle Vick during the pre-season. So far Rex has played it safe to a degree....most of Vicks snaps have come with the 1st string, especially O-Line. I really didn't think Rex would treat Vick like a backup......playing with backups. Vick was brought in to help save Rex's job and I doubted if Rex would put Vick in harms way...especially with what happened to Nacho.

Haha, it was breaking at the time. I thought pretty big too since many Jets fans I have talked to were looking forward to Sanchez vs. Jets.
I expect it to be about like the Eagles game in 2013, Simms for 3-3 1/2 quarters (after Vick gets his token drive), Boyd to hand the ball off 5 or 6 times while he thinks about what clothes he's going to pack first.
