That's too bad. I was looking forward to the Sanchez redemption. It's probably better off this way, because he would have lit our secondary up... unless we hit him once.
I don't blame the Eagles at all. 1. Sanchez is in a good place right now and the last thing he needs is to get the living shit booed out of him for an hour and a half. Would not be good for his psyche at all. 2. There is a good chance Sanchez will be traded in the next 4 or 5 weeks. His play so far in the preseason has been outstanding and with the Eagles being a legit playoff contender, they may be willing to part with him in order to fill one of their gaps. Kelly has already hinted at this too. Either a top flight QB for a playoff contender will guy injured early (The Rams come to mind), or a team like the Raiders or Texans will realize how badly they botched their QB situations and will give up something pretty good for Sanchez.
While I wouldn't want him to have "redemption" on us, I totally see where you're coming from. We did make it hard for him, and no matter the outcome, it really would have been interesting to see the results of an otherwise extremely forgettable game. Also, with the way he has been playing in the Chip Kelly system, combined with our current secondary situation, good thinking. He probably would have believe it or not, torn us up lol..crazy to think that though. Good point about his psyche, but imo it wasn't a part of their thinking. I know it's a media report, but I actually believe the reports that they are benching him because they don't want him to risk injury. They obviously love him as the backup. Would they trade him? Well for the right price, anybody would trade anybody, but I don't see it happening in this specific case. Foles has never even started a 16 game season. They can't put all their eggs in his basket. If he folds, it would be worth it to see what Mark could do with that offense, and that scheme, compared to the possible benefit of getting better depth for your 2nd team at the (insert here) position.
I was going to go to the game since it's right down the AC expressway from me. But if I can't boo Sanchez every time he throws the ball, I don't see the point.
Why? If Sanchez comes out and kills the Jets people will just say he doing it against 2nd or 3rd stringers. And if he sucked people will say how much they knew he sucked.
This could possibly be two straight years where rex makes a boneheaded decision with qbs in the preseason. If Vick gets hurt, Rex would need to be fired before the game ends.
