Exactly. The people saying "rebuild" are just trying to build a defense for Glenn if he fails next year. Its obvious Glenn isn't trying to win, but to buy more time. What a great hire. Same Old Jets.
What kinda nonsense is this? I think even the most ardent of Glenn supporters have some reservations on his abilities. No one wants the team to tank for his benefit. The team needs a full overhaul, enough half ass attempts.
If he goes 6-11 he improves upon what he inherited. Lets not act like he's rolling into a super bowl team here. I think he can exceed last years win total anyway
Sorry guys. I messed up this one. I thought I unselected the main Rodgers thread. My plan was to close the long paged Rodgers thread and merge jeto's topic with the yankees6 topic and keep that open going forward. While doing it on the phone, I messed up. My apologies this time.
I’ll say again, I was very much against the Glenn hiring. I couldn’t care less about excuses for him. What I do know is saddling this team with 3 more years of Rodgers being prohibitively against our cap for the benefit of one more playing season from him is lunacy. We’re not a good team. Our youth is vastly overrated, though still solid. Sauce? Overrated. Garrett Wilson? A superb #2, good #1. But he’s nowhere near elite receivers like Chase or guys at that level. Quinnen? Christ I’ve beens creaming from a mountaintop practically that we stop giving DT’s a 2nd big contract. Draft them, use them, move them. There’s been one DT in the past 20 years I’d ever consider paying big money towards unless he was one of the final pieces needed to win. This team needs draft picks and they need to start really hitting on them. They need FA’s to fill depth and OL positions.
they went into Buffalo WITH Hall of Fame QB Aaron Rodgers and got absolutely stomped on. It was 40-0 when Rodgers pulled himself for Taylor. That Buffalo team wasn't the best team in the NFL by any means. They were a good team though, just goes to show how far these Jets are from competing with good teams. I dont care about padding stats in a meaningless week 18 game against another bad team
So basically a slightly better Saleh. What a great improvement. Cant wait to search for the new coach in 3-4 years.
I think this is what guys like @SOXXX2 can’t let go of. JD and Saleh sold the fans and ownership a bridge. To have stated this was a team that was a QB away from SB contention was borderline criminal, and the stupidity of Woody to believe it was the icing on the cake. Woody should have fired them on the spot the moment they said it. A stud like Josh Allen takes us to the playoffs, but as a team we’re not as good as BUF and we’d lose right away. That’s with a guy like Allen. A washed up, semi-disinterested guy who ponders running for VP, goes to Egypt during TC, spends his Tuesdays ensuring he stays relevent, calls other players out in press conferences…. Yeah we had no chance. And keep in mind I was and still am happy we took him over Carr, but it’s over.
I stated all off-season the coaching staff was awful and they didn't deserve to coach this team in 2024. The team is loaded with talent. It will become more obvious next season if Glenn figures out how to utilize them.
Research the 2023 Chargers and the 2024 Chargers. It was beyond obvious there coaching staff was awful the same way it's beyond obvious that the Jets coaching staff was awful. There is no actual team without a competent coaching staff in the NFL and the Jets had one of the worst staffs in history.
This is like the fifth time I'm saying it... We aren't copying and pasting the 2024 Jets into 2025. What's the very blatantly obvious constant between the 2023 and 2024 Chargers that the Jets won't have?
No they clearly aren't but they could have but decided not to. Strike one on Glenn. Anything less than a winning season next year is a failure.
No sense in trying to have a convo. Like I said, I have a feeling you're in for a looong year and then another offseason of confusion when people don't agree.
I have a feeling you are just creating excuses for Glenn when he fails, likely because you expect him to
