Every report is saying that they were arguing, some reports are more detailed saying that they had this argument multiple times leading up to this one. They're all saying Geno had his finger in IK's face. Let's stop this "Geno is a saint" angle. He's not. He's known for talking trash, he gets himself in trouble often. He's looking for altercations. He was the one that started the whole brawl against the Titans when he kept going after their defense like he's superman or something, kept going after their DT and just wouldn't move away. He's a putz. You don't do that. Especially not if you're a QB. How many more punches does this guy have to take to just keep his mouth shut and focus on himself?
The part that baffles me is if he said something like "What are you going to do?" I don't see how any player would say that to another teammate in the locker room. That would be beyond stupid and asking for the other person to clock you.
More stuff from the Daily News: Although Todd Bowles made it clear that he doesn’t think his starting quarterback should have been punched by teammate IK Enemkpali, eyewitness accounts disagree. Smith “was up in (Enemkpali’s) face and pointed/touched his face,” according to a source. “Geno deserved it,” another source said. It’s unknown how many people witnessed the altercation between Smith and Enemkpali, which began with a dispute over $600, but it’s clear not everyone subscribes to Bowles’ belief that the punch that broke Smith’s jaw was unwarranted. The quarterback is expected to miss 6 to 10 weeks with the injury. It’s unclear how matters escalated, but Smith’s finger-pointing in his teammate’s face was grounds for a punch, according to some. “That’ll get a man hit every time, especially one that hasn’t earned respect,” a source said. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...ntation-ex-nfl-s-ryan-clark-article-1.2323438
It's very telling that virtually nobody in that locker room is sticking up for their starting QB, instead taking sides with some backup who isn't even on the team anymore.
Correct. I tried to break up a bar fight once and got a black eye for my trouble. Neither of the participants was a 260 pound angry linebacker, though, thank God.
I haven't been around for a while but haven't we all realized that Manish's sources aren't real people?
Joe Namath on NFL Network: "One of the things we learn as kids growing up, hopefully, is that you don't put your finger in somebodies face because that can lead to trouble." Also gave credit to Macc for bringing in Fitz. Said it was a great move.
I hardly think his drunk ass needs to give anybody advice on what to do and not to do. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk I dont care if hes been on.or off the wagon, good or bad. Hes done enough, that he doesnt need to criticize anyone.
Of course there are plenty of Jet fans who were not even born during Namath's heyday. But given the nature of his connection to the team's history, you would think people would look into that history, at least if they want to speak to the subject. Take our country. I obviously was not alive when most of my heroes from American history were alive. But I have read about them. So if someone were to say "I love America, but why do people make such a deal about Abraham Lincoln, he really didn't win the Spanish American War!", well I would take offense to that. I trust you get my point.
Here what I would like to know and haven't heard. People keep saying yeah Geno embarrassed him but how did IK approach Geno about it. I really don't think IK walk over to Geno and said in a claim voice hey man what's up with that money you owe me? Then all of a sudden Geno starts putting his finger in his face and he punch him. Now if that is the case I don't blame IK for punching Geno at all.
Not sure what you're talking about. Joe has been spot on with everything he said the past few years. I value his opinion even more than Westhoff's or anyone elses for that matter, outside of Bowles/Macc maybe.
Have you seen Lincoln's INT rate? I just can't get past that, no matter how much you old folks and historians tell me that interceptions mattered a lot less during the Civil War. _
