Wow, what does it matter? One is gone and the other probably would also be gone if we had enough depth already on the team. You will know as soon as they sign or trade for somebody whether smith as any chance at all of ever coming back. It was obvious in bowles remarks that they weren't any happier with smith than they were with the other guy.
Nobody is Justifying the action. What they are saying is Geno should not have put himself in that position and be stupid enough to put your finger in your face of somebody twice your size.
that's a great interpretation of "ghetto respect'. But the fact is, even though 99.9% of these players are ghetto, in the lockerroom, normal society rules prevail, not ghetto bullshit.
This is the weirdest team to be a fan of. A legitimate debate on whether the starting quarterback should have been punched in the face by a 2nd tier, fringe linebacker lol The Geno hate is strong. I get the respect thing, but I would hope that punching the quarterback in the face was off limit course of action.
This is where team captains and/or team leaders should be viable, and readily available, outlets. GROW UP!
No, i asked what was the justification to which boozer replied, "you put your finger in someone s face you are asking for it" that sounded alot like justification to me
a lot of people sound like a bunch of neutered men. men, fight each other. they have since the beginning of time. only recently did men start being a bunch of pansies who were too good to fight each other. you should always be expecting to get punched in the face in an argument. that's how those things go. bottom line here is that I agree, your franchise qb doesn't get punched in the face by a nobody. if he does chances are pretty good he is not the guy to lead your team. imagine someone punching peyton manning in the face, or joe Montana... wouldn't happen, ever, not in a million years. simply based upon the respect they have for the guys. that was EARNED by not being a douchebag.
Nobody is saying (At least I hope) that Geno should have been punched in the face. What we are saying his judgement to put himself in that position is very very questionable. QB vs LB Lb wins Shocking. At least Cam was smart enough to wrestle around with CB.
according to the players on NFL Network, locker room fist fights aren't all that uncommon. they all said they've experienced them. but none of them had seen it with a QB. that was more the unusual part. they felt QB's would typically have the maturity and leadership to diffuse an escalating situation, or have plenty of teammates do that for them. neither happened in this event. quite the opposite actually, which says a lot.
Geno reacted plenty, which in part led to the punch (and please, it was not a 'sucker' punch.....enough with that).
The way I would've handled it if I were IK it would've never escalated the way it did because I'd just let him know I want the money back and I'd leave it alone. I would assume that 600 for a guy like Geno is nothing and in the very near future I'd receive my money back.
This PC hypocrisy culture has people "shocked" that a man would hit another man but yawns as criminals rape and murder, cops are targeted, drones are killing, bombs are going off everywhere. What IK did is merciful compared to what goes on every day in the streets.
It sounded like he did assume that despite assuarances, but here we are now in the near future and he didn't get his money back. Still no reason to end your career over.
There were conflicting reports. I really don't feel like getting deep into it but it has been reported all over this site. The only common truths were that it was about 600 dollars and Geno got punched. Everything else is conjecture.
And/or you never get the $600 back, but you are on the verge of making it in the NFL. With a salary of half a fucking mil $$$ and potential for fast advancement...if you can play and/or beat out some of these old linebackers. I am interested if this will further the IK career or demolish it. Part thinks that teams in our division might offer him a raise. while other part KNOWS that YOU DON'T PUNCH THE STARTING QUARTERBACK IN THE FACE.
The problem is it doesn't happen to other QB's. Other QB's would be man enough and pay the guy the 600 dollars for the inconvenience and out of pocket expense. Other QB's would pony up the money day 1 of training camp and other QB's wouldn't put a finger in a guy's face that just want his money, time and effort squared away.
