Yep. IK has a history of losing his cool. NFL training camps are known to have player brawls/scuffles/fights whatever... Saw a video yesterday of Cam Newton in a fight...saw Dez Bryant in a fight earlier in camp. This was probably combination of a bad morning or night and then Geno not measuring/addressing the situation carefully. Sucks for IK, Sucks for Geno and Sucks for NYJ's football fans most of all.

This might evolve Geno into being able to act like a leader, but I don't think he has the on the field talent to win over a divided locker room if guys feel he was childish and should have handled himself differently in the events leading up to being assaulted. No excuse for IK to punch, but as more of the story comes out, I can see there being a running doubt beyond his playing abilities that will hinder his ability to lead a team properly. Maybe on another team or in another season, but you know the moment he returns, if he plays poorly comments about him will begin in the locker room and media. This is part of the problem with throwing such young guys into leadership roles right away. If they don't succeed early, rapport becomes difficult and trust is hard to maintain with inconsistent play and inconsistent off the field actions. As much as I was/am rooting for Geno here because of his potential upside on the field if all things click finally, I just can't (with the current versions of the story) see him as a leader that unites both sides of the ball on the team. There will be division. He lost his the small griphold he had on being able to establish himself and I think only lights out play can reverse it. Which I doubt he comes back and does under the NY microscope...the Fitzmagic chapter begins.

I agree but sometimes like somone else said here it's the pricipality. In the uber macho work of football you can't have a rep of a punk.

More from Revis. This is very telling. Along with Colon's comments made earlier.

"I hold both of them responsible." On whether Geno shoulders some of the blame for what happened: "Great question", Revis said. "If somebody's in your face, you should know if somebody's going to attack you [based on] their demeanor, in that way, of how they approach you. My answer to that question is to not let it get to where it escalates into a situation."

A 5th round pick that is struggling to make the team $600 dollars can be a lot of money. To be a punk and not pay says a lot about Geno.

With Geno the light is on but nobody is home. There were much speculation by scouts about him prior to the draft. That had to be the reason why he dropped to the 2nd round. I'm not so sure he would have dropped further if Idzik hadn't taken him. No teammate near the altercation came to Geno's defense...none. That is telling because I'm sure there were loud words before the punch and finger in the face. You couldn't get that close to Brady or Manning. The whole lockeroom would have pile drive IK.

There have been TEN days of camp before the fight. That's not a long time to owe a guy money. Especially a co-worker. It's not like Geno was leaving town soon.

Ik was making a half-mil. Not exactly living paycheck to paycheck.

So many opinions are being formed based on out of context info. Who knows how Ik greeted Geno when camp started. Maybe Geno took offense. A story said Geno already offered to pay. Maybe Ik was embarassed BC he told his hometown peoples that he could get the starting QB for the Jets at his camp and got stood up. There's lots we don't know.

Ultimately I defer to Revis. Both men let it escalate. Geno should have de-escalated. Ik took it to a ridiculously ignorant level. And now they're both suffering for it. And they've continued the team's streak of looking like a bunch of bungling clowns (which we are).

In fact the comments almost say they might have done the same thing IK did. That is not a ringing endorsement of your QB nor a QB I want being the starter on my team.

I have seen Qb and receivers go at it before but I have never seen a QB and LB go at it. QBs are supposed to be smart.

Lol at people using Ryan Clark as a source. IK trains at his facility and they are good friends. Might as well use Stedman Bailey as Geno's source.

The "love" for Geno is obvious on this board. LOL! Wait 'til you see what you have in Fitzpatrick who supposedly already knows the system. Yikes!

The partvthat justified breaking someones jaw.
and don't give that "you do this it gets you hit" bullshit. They were at a job and supposed to be professionals. Even golic said he never seen a locker room confrontation turn to blows and ge was on the buddy ryan eagles.

First you say how do you know he blew him off. Then you say there is conflicting reports. Bottom line something ticked that guy off enough to shatter a guy's jaw. Only thing that set's people off like that is money and women.

You do not know he is not living paycheck to paycheck. On the surface this seems to have nothing to do about the money but respect. From the reports it sounds like Geno got in IK's face (do not know for sure). The point is Geno did not act like the leader of this team and his teammates are not defending him. In fact it sounds like they are defending IK. That tells me all I need to know about Geno. Revis's comment says it all.
