LOST WAS good until they actually made it back. I stopped watching after that. I didn't bother with skipping to the finale even. LOST was a GREAT show, but it faded in a very WEEDS fashion. BB owned that show no questions asked.
That is very possible. Although I never watched that other show, I can say with certainty that it was highway robbery. They better sweep everything next year... PS. Jessie for the win.
This is silly. This is like saying no one is murdered in the world because you never murdered anyone yourself. The acting in Boardwalk Empire is just as excellent as Breaking Bad, if not better because the "key player" cast in Boardwalk is substantially larger than Breaking Bad's. Boardwalk's cast is strong, there are no throwaway characters like Walt, Jr. either.
Whoa whoa whoa pal! You can't simply "throwaway" breakfast. It is the most important meal of the day!
I think Dean Norries and Aaron Paul both will be nominated and what may doom them is probably the split votes. They will give Dean that nomination as that is a reward in itself...They were both amazing, however Aaron Paul stole the show in the last 5 or so episodes Heisenberg should be a lock for the win...And Skylar will be nominated...Gilligan needs to sweep this, no other show has been this great in a long long time.
I like Boardwalk Empire as much as anyone. The acting is top notch. To say that the acting is just as good as Breaking Bad is where I would beg to differ. Breaking Bad took it to a whole different level and has the Emmy's to prove it. Also, the subject matter is much different. Boardwalk Empire is full of characters that are tough guys, mobsters, etc. The characters are what there are. One thing that sets Breaking Bad apart and gives the actors a lot more range is that they are playing ordinary people put in extraordinary situations that force them to adapt or die. If you go back and watch season one of Breaking Bad you are just not looking at the same people that you end up with in Season five. The change and the character development are remarkable.
Has anyone heard what Gilligan is going to do next? I know he has this CBS show he is producing called Battle Creek, which sounds like another Low Winter Sun. But I want him back on network TV like AMC ASAP. Or I hope he makes that western he has been hoping to make as a movie
TDK, well you can watch the spanish adaptation soon on univision. Here is the trailer
For all the LOST fans, read what Damien Lindelof says about Breaking Bad and the impact it has had on him because of how he feels the series finale of LOST was not all that great http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/10/02/breaking-bad-finale-frees-losts-damon-lindelof THR full Lindeloff piece: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/damon-lindelof-breaking-bad-finale-639484
Great read, thanks! I am glad he stands up for the L O S T finale. I loved it. I don't get why others don't, but I don't get a lot of things on this planet.
The Lost finale was emotional, but overall it wasn't that good, IMO. It was more concerned with wrapping up the individual character stories than the overall story of the island. That was kind of to be expected, though, because Lost's biggest plus was always its character development. Few shows can take it to that level, but I feel they kind of shit on the fans who watched it for the mystery rather than the emotional lovey dovey crap. Breaking Bad comes close to it in that respect, but I still think Lost edges it because the character development is much more complex. When you look at overall story, however, Breaking Bad takes the cake. Lost tried to milk it's success in the mid seasons (3-4), and delay the story line as much as possible by compounding mystery on top of mystery on top of mystery when they should have been continuing the main plot and moving the story along. Breaking Bad decided to end the show while it was hot, rather than letting it get stale like Lost. They kept true to the main story arc the entire time and did the right thing, although they really didn't have a heck of a lot of episodes, which is primarily why Lost trumps it in character development. Both were great shows. Can't really say one is better than the other.
Yeah, LOST had what? 114 episodes? Breaking Bad had 62. LOST had way more throw-away content than Breaking Bad, but both were fantastic. They are so different, too. LOST's first season could be the best first season of a show I have ever seen, and it was 24 episodes long. In terms of Breaking Bad, episode 24 takes place in Season 3.
The difference is the Lost writers purposely delayed the story and admitted to it later in the series. That's what really killed it, not the amount of episodes. The viewers got dragged off on this unnecessary tangent. The primary antagonist in the series took a back seat to outside invaders, leaving and coming back and being held captive by the others on the island. Too many red herrings made the ending have less impact IMO. Lost could have done without a large portion of season 3 and 4, but yeah with character development no show can touch it, not even BB. That's the big benefit to having more episodes.
