I'm watching a Law & Order rerun on TNT right now, and it's one of the episodes where Giancarlo Esposito (the actor who plays Gus) is the defense attorney.

It's always disorienting to see Gus essentially playing Saul Goodman.

Also, for what it's worth the defendant looks a lot like Mike Tannenbaum.

Looks like AMC wants to Shorten Breaking Bad Season #5. It may move to a new network.......Article

Tense negotiations are underway between the cable network AMC and Sony Television, producer of "Breaking Bad," over a deal for a fifth and probably final season of the critically acclaimed drama.

Talks seemed to reach an impasse last week when Sony sent feelers to at least three other cable networks about taking "Breaking Bad" should an agreement with AMC fall through, said two people with knowledge of the matter who requested anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the talks.

To be sure, negotiations between networks and producers are often contentious. As shows age, they become more expensive as actors' and producers' paychecks get bigger with success. Both sides have in dictated that they hope to reach a pact that will keep "Breaking Bad" on AMC.

Discussions grew heated when AMC tried to convince the makers of of the show that its fifth season run only six to eight episodes instead of the typical 13. That was rejected by the creative forces behind the show, which led them to approach other outlets.

"Breaking Bad" is not the only show AMC is looking to trim costs on. "The Walking Dead," which became a big hit for the network, is having its per-episode budget cut by about $250,000. Last week the show's executive producer Frank Darabont left, and there is speculation that the budget cuts were the reason. People close to AMC deny that was the case.

AMC's push to lower costs on "Breaking Bad" and "The Walking Dead" comes as the price of its signature hit "Mad Men" is expected to go up: "Mad Men" creator Matt Weiner landed a lucrative new deal to stay with the program for at least two new seasons.

In the unlikely event that "Breaking Bad" does move to another channel, the producers would probably have to agree to make additional seasons. It would be highly unusual for a network to commit to just one season of a show it acquires from another network.

AMC is a unit of AMC Networks, which went public earlier this summer.

AMC is fucking up, you'd think they would take care of the shows that put them on the map, especially when next year is the last one for Breaking Bad. Just give them whatever they were planning to spend on Season 2 of the Killing, no one wants to watch that shit anyway.

Whatever happens at least we should be able to see Season 5 somewhere, and they're not talking about some awesome new surfing show.

To be fair, not a lot of people watch AMC--it's hard for them to spread around enough money to let Weiner, Gilligan, Darabont, and all of their other talented showrunners do what they want.

I'm sure that, like with Mad Men, eventually they'll figure something out.

2.6 million people watched the latest episode of Breaking Bad. If AMC loses BB, people will shit.

People love Mad Men and Breaking Bad. The Walking Dead also has a huge audience when it's airing.

AMC needs to stop constantly showing The Shawshank Redemption (great movie, but they shouldn't show it non-stop) and get a better selection of movies during the week.

This Mob Week idea isn't that bad because all of these movies are classic, but I have two things I don't like about it:

    1. Why in the fuck is Rudy Giuliani the host of Mob Week?

    2. Scarface isn't a mob movie.

Do people really watch movies on non premium cable these days though? It's one thing when its a TV show developed on that platform they can tone down the language to where they're not bleeping out every other word. I can't imagine watching Goodfellas or Scarface where they're having to edit for content.

Even leaving out downloading the movies off the internet pretty much everyone has some kind of on demand service, or netflix.

I cringe when I watch most movies on non premium cable. The editing is horrible.

I just think they'd get better ratings throughout the week if they played MORE movies - they seem to play the same things over and over again.

Would be a travesty if they force Breaking bad's hand to leave the network.

    Fuck Mad Men.

I agree, and I don't think that they'd ever let Breaking Bad walk to a different network. My only point is that unlike CBS, which could just give Charlie Sheen a blank check and a briefcase full of coke whenever his contract was up, AMC needs to negotiate hard and not leave a penny on the table.

I've got tons of respect for the people who run AMC. Aside from HBO, no network even comes close to the quality of AMC's original programming.

You think that Walking Dead is better than Mad Men? I strongly disagree.

While I'm generally more likely to buy into a show about killing zombies than a '60s period piece, I think that Mad Men blows almost every other show on TV out of the water in terms of writing and acting.

In fact, I think that Breaking Bad is probably the only better show on TV right now.

I was watching the third Die Hard movie on F/X a while back and I swear to god this happened:

    1.

Unedited: Samuel L. Jackson calls Bruce Willis a racist, mother fucker.

Edited: Samuel L. Jackson calls Bruce Willis a racist, melon farmer.

    2.

Unedited: Bruce Willis says mother fucker.

Edited: Bruce Willis says mother father.

The TNT edit of Die Hard with a Venegeance is one of the best ever. The scene where Maclean is in Harlem wearing a sign that says "I hate niggers" is edited to saying "I hate everybody," and "yippee-kay-yea mother fucker" becomes "yippee-kay-yea Mr. Falcon."
