Sure she has. That's why they're not spending $879,000 on said car wash. Jesse's decent into sociopathy is extremely compelling. I just watched the scene again where he's watching his "guests" scurry around on the floor for dollars while he sits back and grins. Fascinating stuff.
Skyler is certainly stepping up and that's cool. The episode was slow and the tweaker party was strange imo but I'm liking the show's progression either way.
Yeah I got that she wanted to bargain to avoid suspicion, but that still doesn't explain where an unemployed schoolteacher got $800,000 to buy a business. This show is so well written that I assume they'll fill us in on Skyler's cover story before long, but it surprised me that they didn't cover it during this Skyler-centric episode. I also think that Jesse's floundering is fascinating (I definitely think that Aaron Paul's acting is the best part of the show.) Except I couldn't fully appreciate the great scene where he was driving the go-kart around because I kept imagining how awkward it would've been if Walt were there with him.
that was a really bad episode. marie is even crazier than before, still stealing shit and skyler gets to play accountant and act like a cunt again. i usually enjoy the slower character focused episodes, but then again they're usually about walt and jesse, not two insane bitches that no one cares about. was funny seeing bill burr on the show though.
I'm really not sure Pinkman's becoming a sociopath. I think it's completely the opposite actually. His emotions are running his life right now. He wants as many distractions as possible to get his mind off of Gale and Jane. During last week's episode, I think he was literally trying to blast thoughts out of his head when he sat in front of that speaker. When he's alone, he's almost forced to think about it. With constant company, he can almost turn off his brain.
Signed 100% Good episode overall. Marie going back to clepto is fluff, and odd fluff at that, but Skylar becoming a badass is nice.
It wasn't fluff - it was just time for her to finally break down about Hank. Hopefully we don't have to watch much of that anymore now that it's over. Skyler is not a badass. She will always be a cunt. The scene with her talking to Bill Barr through the hands-free was great though.
It was fluff because there were like 3 or 4 scenes of her doing exactly the same shit, pretty long ones at that, when 1 short one would've been more than enough to get the point across. Even if nothing further in the plot developed I would've much rather watched Jesse's zombie meth party for half the episode rather than Marie babbling to real estate agents.
I don't think Jesse can feel anything. At least that's what the go-cart scene meant to me. I don't think he screams because he's trying to drown out guilt or remorse or anything like that. I think he's frustrated because drugs, speed, sound... it's just not stimulating after murder. But he does seem stimulated when he throws up the money. It seems like watching the guests scurry around on the floor is the first time he's sensed pleasure this season. That's what I think, at least. He told Walt something to the effect of "you get used to the beatings" (I'm botching the quote). But I think that was Jesse saying that he's finally... cauterized. He's invulnerable to emotional anguish.
This season is most likely going to focus on all of the pain that Walter White has caused for basically every character on the show. I don't really give a fuck about Marie, so yea...I'd much rather see the show focus more on Pinkman, but I didn't have a problem with the episode at all.
I understand how you can see it that way - I guess we'll find out what kind of person his character becomes at the end of the show. I just think he's sort of in a state of shock after killing Gale. To me, Pinkman is obviously not okay, but he's acting like it to get Walt off his back. Walt can tell something's up with him. The parties, the go-carts, and the sound system are all distractions.
Liked the episode but the Marie scenes made me cringe....... Aaron Paul is doing a great job portraying Jesse's inner turmoil. Still there hasn't been enough Walt and Jesse, mayhem, yet. Weird to say that so far this season ep's 2-3 reallt didn't have enough of the really great characters on the show and it's still good. I can't wait till that changes.
I've heard that at some point over the next few episodes, there's an outstanding scene with Walter and Mike the Fixer. I'm looking forward to it.
I was thinking like Mr. E as well, how he seemed upset when his friends would leave just always trying to have someone or something around to stop the voices, which is probably still true. But I only thought about it in the sense that it would lead Jesse down the path to just being a total useless junkie, OD or suicide something like that. But thats a really interesting angle, maybe hes freaking out because hes had a taste of murder...and he really liked it.
I thought my parties were nuts! Jesse seems to be in a nice neighborhood, I have to suspend my disbelief whaen it comes to that level of debauchery. The cops would have shut that shit down on night 1. /real HOA Talk
