Those numbers are stupid to bring up because they didn't let Sanchez throw deep very often. He managed the games extremely well throughout the season. Completion percentage is the only stat worth taking a look at and it was the guys 3rd season actually starting as a QB in College and Pros. Stats are overrated.
What does throwing deep have to do with completion percentage? if anything, throwing shorter, easier routes should help your completion percentage. and if you are a "game manager" one of your biggest jobs is to complete passes at a high rate. being 29th in the league is awful either way you slice it. He also turned it over a ton... which is again even worse when you dont throw alot/dont throw deep alot
You're worse then the NY Media twisting words. I said completion percentage was the only one worth looking at; however, it's was the guys 3rd season being a starter including both college and the pros. He was 26th in the league in yards per attempt. He wasn't allowed to throw the ball deep so of course his other stats will be down.
what a horrible set of data. why is josh freeman in there? why dont we have attempts listed in context with sacks. how many times you drop back is clearly related to how often you were sacked? why are no other AFC east qbs in there? why is brady in there? why arent teams who run similar offense in there? fail.
yards per attempt has alot to do with completion percentage and accuracy on completed passes. every incompletion is a 0 added in to the average, those hurt. passer rating has very little to do with deep balls, and is very heavily weighted on TD:NT ratio and completion percentage. neither has to do much with the deep ball. its not like sanchez was throwing short but protecting the ball and completing passes at like 65% clip. he was consistently missing short throws and turning it over frequently. it being his 3rd season as a starter and 2nd in the NFL doesnt really mean much since he has actually gotten worse since then with more experience
braylon's absolutely right. he's probably feeling contrite cause he realize what sanchez did for his career.
Wow this thread has grown quickly. Work got in the way of posting earlier. This is more than mildly reminiscent of Denver's 2011 season and we 312ers are constantly reminded by the haters of the insignificance of such comebacks over in "The Unmentionable One's Mania" threads. I have not had the good fortune to see those earlier games due to poor regional football coverage and family health problems but I have read many of the previous years game threads. During the earlier years there seemed to be more favorable responses to Mark's game playing. A lot like last years Bronco game threads. SF
Not really, if I wanted to call him great I would have said he had a great year. Maybe excellent is a bit much but he was really good for us and vital to our big time season.
Mark Sanchez is Jake Plummer, look him up, the only time he was half way decent is when he had a dominate run game and a dominate D for the Broncos. After the talent on D eroded and Mike Anderson and Tatum Bell bit the dust, he played like garbage and was benched for Jay Cutler on Thanksgiving night in 2006. Then he quit on the Broncos.
Just a friendly observation here. If you drop the question mark from your first question about garbage time and make it a statement, it pretty much sums up Mark's performance this past year. I'm not the first to say this as it has been repeated ad-infinitum in this forum. I take no position towards Mark, I am neither a hater nor a cult follower. You just cannot go running off into combat with an unloaded weapon and expect victory. I will leave it up to the group to decide if it is Mark or the Offense that is the unloaded reference above. SF
Sanchez did throw some really nice passes to B.E. He was by far sanchez's favorite target next to keller. I remember sanchez playing a lot better with edwards. These 2 guy's might end up together on a different team next year or somewhere down the road. Tanny made a huge mistake signing holmes over him. He would have cost less and continued to build a healthy relationship with sanchez. But now sanchez is a different player. It's like even though mark did not put up big numbers but was effective with B.E., keller and holmes. And it took 2 years for teams to figure him out.
Sanchez had a much better start to his career than Plummer did. Plummer didn't play well until he was under an offensive minded head coach. Sanchez hasn't had that opportunity. The guy sucks, but I'll bet he'd be much better under a coach like Kubiak or Shanahan.
We never should have let Edwards go, especially since we ending up signing Mason instead (and we all know how he worked out). He's right about idiots calling shots (Tannenbaum) but wrong about Sanchez. Sanchez is a very bad QB. Maybe he isn't the worst QB in the history of football, as he has performed this year, but even without idiots calling the shots he is still bad.
yeah but with his bloated contract and his antics, B.E. had more value and still does. Nobody wants holmes with the contract he has. And if it were not for braylon size and speed. holmes fell off numbers wise since he left. With the contract BE has now. I would switch it out for holmes anyday. Just another bone headed move by tannebum. as soon as he got paid. Look what happend last year. He got benched and was a major locker room distraction.
i give up... stats dont matter when its sanchez stats do matter when its namath. theres no point in even talking to you. ill be sure to call you out every now and again so you dont confuse any new board members with you logic.
