Missing out on Nnamdi Asomugha gave the Jets more money to spend elsewhere, but that money apparently won’t be spent to re-sign free agent receiver Braylon Edwards. Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News quotes a source as saying, simply, “It won’t happen.” That’s no surprise, as Edwards himself has said the Jets don’t want him. But Mehta writes that it’s less about the Jets not wanting Edwards and more about the Jets not wanting to spend the kind of money it’s going to take to re-sign him. The Jets have other priorities, including re-signing Eric Smith (which they just did) and re-signing Mark Brunell (which they’re expected to do this weekend). Now the Jets will move on and look for another free agent wide receiver. And Edwards will look for a new team. The Vikings are said to be interested. via profootballtalk.nbcsports.com REALLY THO? AT the expense of Eric Smith and Brunell you don't re-sign the guy?! COM'ON SON!
lol gtfo out of here. Holmes bailed our asses a ton of times. He had much better stats than Braylon and played less games with us. lol you Sanchez homers love to blame Holmes for everything. Kerley is better? Just stop posting
What? Braylon wanted and expected to get a multi-year deal, probably something on par with what Holmes got. He settled for a one year deal with the Niners because his off field issues scared everyone else off, and he's been less productive than Holmes since he left the Jets. I liked BE, too, but Jet fans have got to stop going on and on about him. It's ridiculous.
You started out great, spot on. But at the end there - you held back a little. Can you tell us how you REALLY feel???
like i said, read my last post. Braylon said he's willing to put his ego aside. He wasn't aiming for the moon
If he was going to sign for league minimum he would have. But he didn't, he thought he could get a better deal else where, and that did not work out. If I recall correctly, the Jets even made him an offer, so according to your logic, if he were willing to come at "any price", what the JETS offered would have been sufficient enough for him to sign. But he didn't sign did he? Why not? Because he wanted more money.
That's my mistake, He wasn't willing to come at ANY price but my point is that he wasn't asking for anything that wasn't manageable. You guys make it seem like he was asking for a MAJOR contract. He's not a league minimum talent. If we REALLY wanted to we could have offered a little more but instead we put that money towards some bums (eric smith and brunell).
that was PR in 2011, he wasn't coming back here for what he signed for in SF while Holmes had a brand new huge contract.
See now you are making more sense and your argument seems more valid. I cannot go back to the numbers of what our cap was at and what we had available that year, perhaps someone else will. When asked any price, you were very persistent that he was willing to come at any price which was not the case. We cannot judge what Braylon could have been and I am not saying he is a bad player. I personally think the reason he is coming out scolding the organization now is because he is non existent on the team he is on as well as in the NFL. We all now the JETS get a lot of attention, in turn giving him attention.
you're right but holmes would't have got that big of a contract if we would have signed braylon. neither would we have eric smith and brunell which are completely IRRELEVANT to the team now. All Braylon was asking for was to be appreciated.
In result to Holmes getting that contract he shows us his dedication with a picture of him popping a champagne bottle on twitter. He's laughing at us right now. :shit:
He had a three year deal on the table from some team (Vikes?). Given the Jets' needs and their salary cap situation at the time, they had to make a choice between BE and Holmes, and they went with the guy who seemed to have the higher ceiling. And if you put the off field issues aside, and just look at the on-field production, a good argument can be made that the Jets made the right choice.
Jericho Cotchery was a HUGE Loss...how many 3rd down passes did Mark hit him with ? Anyone remember his 66-yard pass-and-run play against NE after Brady led them to a TD in the playoffs ?
Holmes helped us lose just as many games as he's helped us win. Funny how people forget those games where Holmes was a total dick and cost us games with not catching the football, fumbling, allowing the ball to be stripped and intercepted.
Glad u didn't watch him in 2010. Cuz he only had one drop the entire season, the best amongst all NFL starting receivers. By the way, ur BS "one man with no safety help" argument is one of the worst. One of the reason Jets run game went well was because of. Great run blocker, plus he commanded double coverage on many occasions, contrary to ur useless theory.
Holmes was valuable only when he had Braylon. How many games has Holmes won since Braylon left? And Kerleys play is much netter than what Holmes showed this year. Also, Holmes has been a locker room cancer besides costing us a fortune to keep on the IR. Kerley? He's been Jets top target even without another starting caliber WR.
The Braylon ship has sailed and sunk in two other locations. I get why we're discussing his comments, but it's time for Jet fans to move on.
QFT!!! That's what happens when the Bottom Line is more important that the Line up. and people expect Mark to succeed...wow.smh. I just don't get how we can succeed with ANY QB with the players and Staff we have on offense. G-Mack... RUN FOR YOUR LIFE BRO!!!!!
If our offense was producing at a similar level as it was when we had Braylon I can understand you saying it's time to move on. But our offense and Sanchez have both seen a steep decline since he's left. It's frustrating - especially for those of us who really wanted Braylon over Holmes.
