And your first post is contradictory. You say bench him because he put himself before the team but benching continues doing the exact same thing."

    How is my post contradictory?
Edwards put his own selfish needs before the teams. He got arrested for DWI ! With all that is riding on this years hopes on goin to the Super Bowl, why would he do something that would have a negative effect on the team ( ie; loose a game) ?
Here is a quote from a news report:

"Edwards was given a breath test at the scene and another at a police station. His blood alcohol level was .16, twice the legal limit, officials said. There were four other people in the SUV at the time."

Edwards is irresponsible and reckless to involve 4 other people in his SUV. He could have gotten them killed !
Bench him ! He should have known better! He could have called for a cab or car service - Limo !

In what way do his legal issues effect the team in a negative way?

It never ceases to amaze me how people not only take these logical leaps, but come and post them on a message board. WHat's the point? They think people won't notice?

    Holiday

I have family in 4 different areas. Thank goodness no tourist traps for me. We usually stay in an empty furnished apartment so its a great 3 weeks for me every couple of years.

    why are you quoting me?

i said i don't want him to be suspended because i want to win the game

which is pretty much what i'm saying in the other post when i said "
Just say you want the guy to play because you want the team to beat the dolphins

don't try to make excuses for the guy because he clearly fucked up
    "

I'm not making excuses to make myself feel better about rooting for a guy who did something fucked up, like some other people on here are

I don't think anyone is making any excuses for Braylon's behavior.

We all want to win the game but it has more to do with the separation of the NFL and the law that we are discussing.

The point is that his DUI arrest on his off day should have no bearing on his playing status on game day.

It looks like Rex feels the same way too.

Mike Sims-Walker got deactivated last year for 'violating team rules' (I believe it was breaking curfew).

Yeah it's bs, of course you can mete out punishment...this idea you can't is just a weenie rationale. You just can't take away a game check for it. You can't suspend a player without pay in cases like this, but you can deactivate anyone you want.

Get some perspective. You imply I think it's no bigger a deal than not using a turn signal? That is horse shit. Did I say he shouldn't be punished? Absolutely not. Should he be treated like he killed some one? Absolutely not. He didn't kill who ever it was that got killed by a drunk driver that you knew, but you want him punished for that crime apparently.

He will get punished, probably not severely enough but it isn't the Jets job to decide what the appropriate punishment should be, we have laws and a court system for that. There is also a CBA. And the NFL offices. What he did was very dangerous, wreckless and stupid. It's called due process.

I am not excusing Edwards at all. He is lucky he got caught before he might have hurt someone. But blaming him for people who have been killed by a drunk driver is an emotionally driven kinee jerk reaction. It isn't rational.

Edwards said he usually uses personal car service, but had to drive himself Mon night because he left complex late after doing extra work.

Yeah the other day I brought a shotgun into a crowded supermarket and fired at random. No one died though, so it's all good. And luckily, I didn't get caught =)

right, because discharging a fireman *intentionally*, a device which its sole purpose is to mortally wound,in a crowded area is a perfect analogy for a mode of transportation being a *possible* ancillary way to injure someone late at night when the roads are relatively empty... provided that person's driving is impaired enough.
