Totally agree, they all should be missing a game or so. Don't use the excuse that it only hurts the team more. Tough crap, if you do the crime do the time.

Ben Roethlisberger wasn't even charged with a crime and he was nailed with a 6 game suspension for his conduct (later reduced to 4). Edwards is a repeat alcohol offender and clearly isn't learning his lesson.

Exactly. I have seen people who have blown a .17 and a .18. They were pretty much totally hammered. this is alot different than blowing a .09. To be that drunk and driving around w/passengers in your car...that is really some f'd up shit. Its really stupid if you want to drive yourself around drunk, but to load up your suv with other people and drive drunk...thats very very stupid and irresponsible.

Add this to the fact that he is on criminal probation in Ohio for alcohol fueled assault and battery and add in the fact that Braylon was partying w/stallworth doing shots of tequilla after 2:00 am and running up a $3400K bar bill w/stallworth before Stallworth drove drunk and killed somebody LAST YEAR....

Its a problem. I hope the guy wakes up, recognizes its a problem, sobers up and gets some treatment.

Its not Braylon's fault. Its Stallworth's fault. But Braylon was partying w/stallworth till the wee hours and stallworth killed a person last year. Its part of the context of this latest incident. Braylon is acutely and personally aware of the possible tragic consequences of drinking and driving and yet he is out partying and drinking and driving at 5 am. Its not like its his first rodeo. he's not some college kid who made a mistake. Its extra stupid in Braylon's case, either that or its indicative of him having a pretty serious drinking problem because he is unable to stop himself from drinking and driving.

I happen to think that D'Brick is one of the smartest footballers on our team and apparently he was one of the 4 passengers.
Now I can't think for a minute that if Brick thought that Braylon was intoxicated that he would have gotten into that vehicle, but apparently he did.
So what was it , poor judgement on his part, or that the amount of alchol had not affected Braylons actions, (in other words he didn't appear to be drunk).

Anyway what did he do? Run a light, drive erratically or what ??????

Edwards didn't rape anybody in the bathroom of a club though.

Well apparently BE looked and smelled like a drunk when he got pulled over by the police officer.

dbrick may have been wasted himself and didn't notice how wasted braylon was. who knows? who cares? what matters is edwards was drinking and driving and he blew a .16.

But thats not why they asked him to blow. they asked him to blow because he was obviously drunk.

I'm so sick of this role model crap. Yes they're famous millionaires. They got their playing football. Sure a kid can emulate that player on the field but if I were a parent I know for sure I would not say do everything that guy does.

Most of these athletes have been getting their way their entire lifes granted through hard work on the field. Many of them are college kids with unlimited funds.

Put yourself in their shoes, women throwing themselves on you and not a care in the world. If you look at at least some of these "role models" they used football to get out of a bad situation.

No matter how much any of you'd like it to be true money does not change your character.

I have 3 nephews and if anything they learn what not to do if they're ever lucky enough to be in such s spotlight. Can you imagine the impact Reggie had had college prospects across the nation?

I no way agree with what he did but in the end we're responsible for our own.

Oh gawd, why even add a post.

It is up to the NFL to dole out suspensions and fines. Let them. Or demand that Jason Allen and Ronnie brown sit the game out.

What the Jets are doing is the correct way to handle it. Bench him early, send a message and let the NFL deal with it the way every other team in the NFL does.

Doing anythingt more with a depleted WR corp is like shooting your shoe with your foot still in it because a shoe lace broke.

DWI is a stupid stupid thing to do. It isn't rape. It isn't intentionally assaulting someone. It isn't having an illegal hand gun. It isn't shooting himself in ther leg. I as much as anyone have empathy for anyone who ever got injured or killed by a drunk driver. Edwards didn't kill anyone. Stop acting like he did. He made a HUGE dumb ass decision. He got caught. Period.

    And neither did Ben.

As much as the DA wanted to nail a famous person with an open/shut case and solidify his run for governor, there was NO Evidence of rape.

And don't even get me started on his accuser in Nevada. She bragged to her co-workers how she hoped she got pregnant with a Little Ben, and that was before she had sex with him. She didn't even file Criminal charges and went straight to a civil suit aka "Pay me money to make this disappear"

Ben showed poor judgment in even going to a college bar in the first place, but there's no law against having sex. Having sex in public places perhaps, but I'm sure a lot of men and women have done that in their lifetimes.

These women knew who he was....and tried to get some financial gain from all of this.

Personally I'm vehemently against drunk driving, I lost a cousin to a drunk driver when I was a teenager. But I also believe in letting the legal system work before condeming someone. I personally believer he was driving under the influence, and he's had his licensed pulled pending trial, but until the trial is over or he enters a plea of guilty or no contest I don't believe he should be punished in the work place until that point in time.

Innocent till he has his day in court.

That said If I had my way anyone who gets caught drunk driving and found guilty should spend atleast 30 days in jail (allowing them to take a cab to and from their workplace in some cases).

This is the most intelligent post I've read on the subject thus far. Obviously, Edwards was just fine to drive. I love how everyone is acting like saints around here and want him hung. The guy made a mistake, shit happens. Time to move on.

what you read in the police report was the girls friends statement. if you actually read it and seen her statement which were different story a few times it was quit clear the girl was lying. which is why there was no arrest or no charge. but then again knowing jets fans you cant read well
