Why Braylon could not produce either in SF or Seattle is beyond me. That said, you cannot deny that Braylon and Sanchez had some good chemistry going. Sanchez had some real good security blanket in Cotchery as well. With Kerley emerging in the slot and Keller, Sanchez could have had some real good targets to throw to. My point? It is more than clear that Tannenbaum ruined what was working. That's why I am blasting that bean counter.
Just reading this now. I'm happy the Jets brought him back but I never wanted him to leave in the first place.
So happy this has happened. Braylon has something to prove and let's face it, this is a 3 game audition for the future of his NFL career. He's been dumped by two teams. If he fails again, I'm sure he'll be hard pressed to get another team to sign him. He's a prideful guy with a lot of fire. Fingers crossed he and Mark can make a few plays over the next three weeks.
All bullshit and bluster aside, this is what this is about. You need one play to win a game - are you going to Clyde Gates, M. Gilyard, etc.... or Braylon? Unless his knee's totally shot, Braylon's better than all of the guys above.
Oh. I was still thinking he was on PS. I guess we'll have to find out, but Jets might put Jordan back there again. I like Jordan and I think we can turn him in to something useful in the future.
People are talking about him like he is over the hill. The guy is 29 years old. If the Jets can lock him up for a couple of years cheap, it's an automatic upgrade over every receiver they have right now except for Kerley, even if he doesn't perform like a world beater. It's a win/win. Absolutely agree. He reminds me of Kerley last year. Definitely has the potential to put it all together.
Jordan White agreed to give his number to Braylon, he on the 53 man roster but hasn't been active yet. Usually when a younger player gives a veteran his number the veteran gives the younger player something in return, it is tradition. An example when Donovan went to the Vikings and the punter gave his number 5 to him
Watching the 2005 Rose Bowl Game Michigan vs Texas. Braylon Edwards was such a beast for Michigan, it is a shame he isn't a bonafide superstar in the NFL. He looked unstoppable and corners feared him. He made catches that made you drop your jaw. He was lightning quick in his route running. Though the other receivers were Steve Breaston and Jason Avant. Pretty impressive, Michigan could of won the game if they didn't have a Joke of a QB (Chad Henne). On a side note, you guys knew Mark Sanchez was on the 2005 USC team that went to the National Championship against Texas in the 2006 Rose Bowl? Think about it, maybe Mark Sanchez could have won that National Championship if he started as a Freshman, though it would have been vacated anyways because of Reggie Bush.
Why worry about the extension? The extension could be based on being on the active roster by the first game of next season or written some other way that may push him to produce over the rest of this season. I don't see too many here expecting the second coming of Jerry Rice, just help for a receiving game that sorely needs it.
Tannenbaum didn't ruin what was working, Edwards ruined what was working by demanding too much money, acting like a jackass ("get ya knuckles ready") and most importantly sucking at football. Cotchery, too, has been useless since leaving the Jets. You can (and should) blame the GM for not properly replacing those two once they left, but their 50 catches combined over the past two seasons is pretty strong evidence that they were cut loose at the exact right time. I'm perfectly happy with giving Edwards a shot at reviving his career; I just really doubt that it's going to work.
