Wake Forest. Idzik's son played with him for several years, and they are very close. Boyd was a wasted pick too tho.. not sure which of them pushed for it, but both seemed to really like him. i think it was the intangibles, but the skills just didn't match..
It was Rex without a doubt http://m.espn.go.com/general/story?storyId=10914302&city=newyork&src=desktop
That was Rex. I watched the presser Charley referred to. Bohanon is not a wasted pick. Prolly can get a better player, but he may well end up our FB this year. He's better than Connor, another waste of a pick, and that other waste of time Hilliard.
Tajh Boyd just signed a 1 year deal with the Steelers. He's going to play in this league at some point. _
i'd give them both 'credit' on the Boyd pick. but really, a comp pick late 6th rounder to take a flier on a QB with intangibles wasn't the worst of gambles. they moved on quickly. there were worse draft decisions last year than that. Bohanon has been a waste so far. the only reason he made the team was the complete lack of competition at FB. he was the worst FB in the league his rookie year, and doesn't even play on special teams. I'd take Connor......but chances are an UDFA or journeyman might beat both out barring some serious development this camp.
Marshall has spoken... ...and I don't disagree. If Mariota isn't there, take Cooper. We may not need him right now, but in two years we will be happy we took him. Assuming he's there of course.
How the F do you call Bohanon a waste and then say Boyd wasn't a bad gamble. Bohanon wasn't anything to brag about but he played for the Jets and actually made blocks and made some catches Boyd was in an experimental development league before the season even started and I'm not even sure that experimental league exists anymore. And Rex Ryan admitted point blank that it was his pick, there is nothing to base any idea that he shared the blame for that selection anywhere
well Boyd turned out to be a waste too, i acknowledged that. read post #683 before your panties get bunched further....
I'm on an android Chrome browser, and in it this forum doesn't display post numbers or specific time stamps, if it's not too much trouble please include a link to whatever post you are talking about
Ima wait to see what Bowles has to say about it. Cause when I watched Bohanon play he's the only one who's had a clue since TRich. If Bohanon wasn't injured we never would've of seen Connor again. Connor didn't know which way to run when he replaced TRich. Bohanon's our FB as we speak. The 'Terminator' is out there somewhere, an UFA. There's gotta be somebody out there that's a better option than Connor to compete with Bohanon. That little battering ram from last year that Bohanon beat out, would be a better choice.
Ah sorry I glossed over that when I realized you still weren't clear who was responsible for that pick
agreed, have to get a little competition. i'm not as down on Connor as you, as is actually good at lead blocking and special teams, but offers literally nothing in the passing game. i'm not a fan of Bohanon at all, but maybe he proves me wrong this camp. i'd need to see better lead blocking, better pass pro, some contributions in receiving, and possibly special teams contributions. hell if he can even improve upon 2 of those things, it would be a nice upgrade.
At this point I really hope the Jets drop the FB position altogether, It's not conducive to an overall spread offense when we have TEs than can soft into Hback and the Jets will need as many roster spots possible to deal with the overload at DB
lol you're a dueche.... the GM is responsible for every pick made in the draft. but really i'm not going to criticize 6th round comp or 7th round picks. they are all fliers really.....long shots to make it in this league and no different than UDFA's. my beef with Idzik's drafting (or Rex's input) really has nothing to do with anything selected that late.
