so we pay 7.5M in 2015, 7.9M in 2016, and 8.3M in 2017, and it's year to year with no guarantees? am i reading that right? if so, i think it will end up a 2 year deal, with maybe the 3rd year if things are working well. 5th round pick was reasonable for a good vet on 2 years, with nothing locked in.
any chance we keep percy? i love marshall and love this trade so much, marshall is a more valuable player than harvin obviously but now that we have solid WR in Decker and Marshsall a percy harvin can strive! i understand if we cut him but Decker Marshall Harvin Kerly is a SOLID WR core best we might of ever had . If you keep Harvin the only thing on offense that would need to be adressed during FA or Draft is O line and maybe QB. Maybe a second RB, that is almost nothing. Obviously QB hard to find but if we stick we geno, im fine surrounding him with this talent would be awesome and chan gailey made fitzpatrick look elite. If we get Revis or Maxwell, Cro, McCourty, Spiller then draft Mariota 2nd round OLB i would love this QB Mariota RB Ivory/Spiller WR Marshall, Decker, Harvin, Kerly TE Amaro OL D line MO, Snacks, Sheldon OLB 2nd Rounder ILB Davis ILB harris OLB Coples CB Maxwell or Revis, Cro, Milliner, McDouble S Pryor S McCourty
Wow, it MUST be good. Look what manish just tweeted: @MMehtaNYDN: Absolutely terrific trade by GM Mike Maccagnan & the new Jets regime. Better than terrific, actually. #nyj Can't remember the last time he said something positive
Brandon Marshall for a 5th??? OK. I have concerns about his health but that price I'm 100% behind this trade....but he's still gonna have Geno throwing to him. I just hope he's still healthy, productive and on the team, by the time the Jets have a REAL NFL QB under center. At least, if next year sucks, it won't be for lack of receiving talent.
He's just buttering up his readers so the minute things go south he can write a narrative about the Jets new brain trust driving the otherwise glittery potential over the side of a cliff.
I'm good with this move as long as he passes the physical and it is indeed a 5th round pick. I'd prefer to go young but a guy like Marshall for a 5th and no guaranteed money is an absolute no brainer.
What's not like about getting this guy for a 5th round pick? Judging from recent years by week 1 our late round picks are playing on other teams. (Knocking Idzik)
I hope this means that Harvin is gone. Too expensive. Too much of a gadget player. Too high of a compensation to Seattle. Bid Percy adieu, and use his money to sign Franklin or McCourty, and the team is exponentially better.
I agree, by making this trade, the jets must let Harvin go so they can keep their 4th round pick and use it to take a player that can help this team to stay young and inexpensive, but at the same time contribute. Or use the money on a FA. Nicely done NC.
Bad plan imo. In order for Philly to want the Jets pick Mariota would have to be there, and trading away a future star QB would not be wise or a good start for the new FO. Further, I don't understand wanting to keep Harvin. You guys make it seem like he's a HOFer and he isn't. He's fast and a playmaker, but can't stay healthy, is more of a gadget player than a true WR, and between his excessive contract and the compensation due to Seattle if we keep him (4th round pick), he just isn't worth it. Send his butt packing. Draft Mariota and the Jets' QB situation will at along last be resolved. Sign Spiller as another receiving threat. Use the 2nd round pick on the pass rusher we need, a WR or perhaps even Brick's replacement for 2016.
Here's Chicago's view of the trade: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/rosenblog/chi-marshall-bears-jets-rosenbloom-20150306-column.html
I would have loved to add Cobb as well, but there were never any guarantees that the Jets would get him. In fact, I will be absolutely shocked if he doesn't stay in GB. Why would he want to leave? He plays in the most explosive and highest-scoring offense in the NFL I believe. He has arguably the best QB in the game throwing the ball to him and he's a primary target. GB was one screw up away from playing NE in the SB. I think he'd have to be nuts to sign elsewhere. If I was him I'd stay with GB even if it meant I had to take $2 million a year less.
I'd love to get a guy like locker...I think he's still got some upside I never thought he was bad and was always in a bad system dominated by Chris johnson Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
