We may also have the upper hand, because NE has to think that we are gonna have better draft picks than the sleasebags.
I think I can say that and I think I did say that. You are entitled to your interpretations and I'm entitled to mine. Personally, I think a 2nd rounder alone is too much for Branch adding another player would be bonifide sodomy. I hated the McCareins trade and have hated his production these past few years with us but I'm still not willing to just give him away for nothing, especially when he's garnered some interest from other teams. And another thing. I find it refreshing that our current FO is so active but it worries me a little that teams are so willing to trade with us. I'm no GM, but if I were I would be trading mostly with teams that I know I would be getting the better end of deals.
I like this idea the best. Stick it to them by making them keep him and pay him more. All things considered (the biggest of which is Chad as #1 QB this year), our WR corps is more than adequate. We'll either make it or break it with them this year and adding an expensive 5'9" holdout for $36 Million isn't going to win us any more games. If you're going to invest that kind of money, save the pick, spend the Cap room on other pressing needs this year and wait to address another receiver in April or off waivers.
Tangini. . . . Man, I hate that name. Not mere dislike. Hate is the most appropriate word. It must be typed 500 times in this thread alone.
It just does not make sense to say, it'd basically be two 2nd rounders for Branch... So, if it were Bryan Thomas and a 2nd, it'd be "basically" a 1st AND 2nd rounder for Branch? No, you can only tie Thomas with Ed Reed or Lito Sheppard...And in McCareins case, compare him to Travis LaBoy, both haven't done much on their respective teams. It happend 3 years ago, and you'd be lucky to get a 4th rounder for McCareins right now... I was for the JMac trade when it happened so i'm not going to just turncoat and act differently, I, like some others, thought it would work out wonderfully here with his big-play ability, it didn't, and the trade has looked bad considering the contract the Jets gave him, in hindsight. You wouldn't be just "giving him away"...You'd be getting a game-breaker, who despite his size, still goes over the middle and takes hits unlike a much better McCareins. A Superbowl MVP and not even in the prime of his career yet... To me, that beats a 4th or 5th rounder from Chicago or whoever...
LOL. As far as the Branch to the Jets deal, the rumor (if you can believe it) on the sports talk show in Boston is that the Pats have accepted the Jets deal because it was too good to pass up.
