You don't know if Schotty had total control, so why insist that he did? Frankly, I don't see much difference in the offense under Spores. I see the HC's preferred conservative ground and pound and wildcat game planning has pretty much remained the same. Meet the new boss, Same as the old boss... Because Ryan is still dictating the offensive game plan philosophy. One more item... there were some games that Schotty called that even the Schotty haters were happy with. Just how much was Schotty expected to do with a QB that was so overwhelmed he needed a color code system in an attempt to correct Sanchez's awful decision making? Sporano doesn't have to wear that handcuff. I'm glad a change was made at OC, but I think Sporano was an absolutely a terrible choice. I mean look at how good that Miami offense was, right? Rex just hired another guy to do what Rex wants done. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss...
Color code system was stupid. I still think you let Sanchez go out there and make his mistakes his rookie year so then he has a feel for what he is and isn't capable of.
im watching the Rams opening drive and Braford is killing it throwing 6 times in a row on the first 6 plays and threw a TD in under 3 min, so say want u want about Shotty but it was really Sanchez the whole time
I would not say it was Sanchez the whole time.... but still, Schotty called a great game opening drive there.
I hate to say it but it wasn't Schotty when he was here. They scored with W. Hunter, R. Turner and M.Mulligan. Wow, that's how bad Sanchez is. I hope the Rams lose though.
Not the case at all. The Jets went from a pass-happy offense with Favre in 08, to leading the league in rushing attempts by a wide margin in 09. Guess what happened? Rex and his ground-and-pound philosophy happened. Schotty implemented his playbook and terminology; that's for sure. But the offense was run the way Rex wanted to run it.
Yeah, your point being? We did that under Schotty too when we could. I'm not really too surprised by his playcalling. It looks similar. Bradford has similar struggles Sanchez had last year. Bradford is supposed to be more accurate so Schotty's system theoretically should be better suited for Bradford overall if it remained the same. You said it was Sanchez the whole time? I'm clearly statying Schotty was partly to blame. In a team game I wonder what is more realistic, that blame goes to multiple people or one person only...
It wasn't all Rex, Schotty had the same type of offense with Chad/Clemens at QB. Favre was the abberation because he was Brett Favre and they tried to run his type of offense. Plus I don't care if you had Norv, Martz, whatever offensive system, it would have been suicide to try to run a pass-oriented offense with a rookie QB that started one year in college. And if Rex ever had control over the offense, you think that disaster of a Giants game with nine million passes in a one-score game happens last year?
And who was the HC then? Mangini, another uber conservative HC. OC's impliment the game plans the HC tells them to. Let's not give Schotty absolution here, just put it in it's proper perspective. It wasn't all on him.
Rushing attempts: 06 491 attempts with Pennington 07 446 attempts with Clemmens 08 422 attempts with Favre 09 607 attempts with Sanchez 10 534 attempts with Sanchez 11 443 attempts with Sanchez (the year they took off the handcuffs) The offense was overly simplified during Sanchez's first 2 years. Hence other teams could predict what we did. The offense was very different between Sanchez and any of the other QB's.
Ryan may well have defered in that to Schotty, but Ryan is the HC, clearly has had an influence on the O, and if he wanted to could have told Schotty to change his approach. Most HC's I believe go over the game plan with their OC before the game. I have no reason to think Ryan did not do that with Schotty.
we were constantly in passing situations all game long thanks to a million penalties and playing from behind in the 2nd half. The # looks bad on the surface but you have to remember the circumstances in the game.
9 sacks...nine goddamn sacks.......we are worse than the rams....at least they are exciting to watch......Good to see Chris Long and Road warrior animal jr. on the postgame...they look like they are having fun!
For the record I give Jeff Fisher primary credit for the Rams' apparent resurgence. He's one of the better NFL HC's, year in year out.
Bradford completed Seven Passes last night Seven. They were critical passes but the Rams offense struggled. Schotty is what he is an average to below average OC. The question is is Sparano any better? Hard to tell the Jets are so young on offense it is questionable if they have the talent. They have zero running game and no backs that can catch out of the backfield. Receivers that are average to poor route runners and terrible Tight Ends. The Jets are strange when they were successful they had a mixture of old and young players on both sides of the ball. Last year on offense they went old Plax, LT, Mason this year they went the exact opposite. Hopefully the Jets can find a playmaker on offense or it is going to be a long season no matter who are OC or QB is.
