Could I be so bold as to predict that when we let this piece of shit go at the end of the season, he isn't (a) offered a head-coaching job anywhere, (b) offered an OC job anywhere, and that instead, he reverts to being an offensive position coach?
With Rex standing on the sideline and allowing it to happenhmy: Do you really believe it's Shotty? Something tell's me it's Rex.
Seriously, dude. You think Rex wanted to throw the ball close to a record number of times in a game that we were down by one score for most of the game? Can you provide something resembling a reasonable explanation behind this line of thinking?
I did. I check them all out. I saw nothing but diplomatic side-stepping in reference to the terrible offensive playcalling.
No offense, because I'm new here. But if you believe anything that Rex Ryan says at his press conferences, then i have a car with 4 flat tires and no engine to sell you.
No I dont, but I also dont beleive he leaves all the offensive game planning to Shotty. He's the head coach!!! Dont you think after all this time togater they're not on the same page. What about halftime...dont you think they talk?
So, you don't believe what he says in his pressers, but you tell me to watch his presser to determine that Rex was behind the ridiculous number of passing plays called? Rex has lamented, off the cuff, a number of times how he does not get very involved in the offensive game planning at all. What exactly are you going by when you come to the conclusion that Rex is designing the offensive game plan? ESP? The man who is 2 degrees from getting a Ground And Pound tattoo across his chest is not going to push for a record number of passing attempts.
Thought this article that came out prior to the Bills game was a great read and draws a clear picture of why our passing game has struggled so much this year. A lot of it points to Schotty and predictable or conservative playcalling, and also the o-line play in terms of teams not fearing the run game allowing them to drop extra DB's in coverage, and also the poor pass protection not letting deep plays develop.
Seriously? Do you not realize that Rex's dad punched Gilbride in the face for throwing the ball too much. Rex realizes that by throwing it too much you make your defense tired because chances are drives will not be sustained and the clock will be stopped more than it is running.
I'm done...I gave my opinion. Rex is the head coach, Rex chose Shotty, Rex makes the disicisions on how he expects the offense to work. If Rex is just standing by and allowing something offensively that he doesnt like every week, there are bigger issues.
I agree with you to an extent. Rex has to step in there and say run the ball. You can't put that solely on Schotty. I think the one problem here is Rex is not an offensive guy. He probably still has a lot to learn before he can run an NFL offense so he has to lean on Schotty more than he would ever need to lean on Pettine. Therefore I think a lot of the offensive struggles fall on Schotty's shoulders.
I'm not saying he shouldn't, I'm saying for the most part, he doesn't. And I agree, that is a big issue if your OC is an incompetent douche like Schotty appears to be.
Hehe, Rex spent a good portion of his presser today trying to sell Schotty as a HC candidate. Translated: 'Please somebody hire this guy so I don't have to fire him.'
If you think Rex is a bit of a head case now from time to time just wait until he has the guilt of firing somebody hanging over him. Tannenbaum needs to get this done. Schotty is his mistake and he needs to fix it without putting the onus on Rex. He could even fire Schotty over Rex's objections just to keep things clear and keep Rex from doing something bad to himself and the franchise afterwards.
