So clearly, like politics, you;re a little confused on football too. In the Shotgun, Man stands up, sees the field. No backpeddling. Run Power? from a spread offense ?
The Jets D didn't show up for the first half. They also failed to stop Pitt from running out the clock to end the game. So they didn't step up for the entire second half either.
Offense was terrible with and without Mangold for years. I haven't seen any double reverses, fake double reverses, HB pitches to the QB, or receivers running within 3 feet of eachother these past two games. Also haven't seen the typical A gap run A gap run slant playcalling. All hallmarks of a schoddy offense. Though I do hate that we run the same play EVERY TIME on 3rd and short from the gun when we motion LT to the outside. It is the same exact routes everytime
We were still right there with a chance to win the game and schoddy may have had the worst playcalling in AFCCG history
Worse than the Raiders in 2000 who scored all of 3 points? Jesus is black, so is Cleopatra, know your history.
Mediocre maybe. You and a few others really feel the need to exaggerate every issue you have. Your second paragraph makes that pretty clear.
Despite the D not coming through (on a team built to win on defense), the offense nearly bailed them out ... but fell short. This offense is not great & Schotty is not Bill Walsh but both Jets playoff runs under Ryan ended because the D didn't deliver in the Championship game. At least against the Colts their were injuries. Against the Steelers it was just a letdown. Schotty didn't prevent this team from reaching the SB.
I don't know what it is that changes but at times the offense looks great, has a good flow, play calling seems to make sense and no stupid plays. We had this same offense after the dolphins game last year in December. The offense against the Steelers/Bears/Pats/Steelers strongly resembles the offense the jets have run the last 3 weeks. I do think that the Mangold injury basically ruined the Raiders/Ravens/Pats game. Without Mangold/Turner all it takes is one big weakness in the line to destroy the ability to pass/run. The Pats game, Mangold was obviously still hurt and the game plan was all about running the ball which is what the pats are good against.
Mangold is huge in everything. Now the line is working better together every game and will let the jets open the offense after they establish the run. When the run game is decent we get tons of play action going and then the confidence for some deep plays. They haven't even really hit a deep ball this season but Holmes has drawn big P.I.'s the last two games which move the ball all the same.
HAH! I was wondering who else saw that. That was the second highlight of the game, first is Rex air bumping with Tone and second was Schitty getting dissed on the fist bump by Rex. Those need to become standard animated pics
Not sure if posted yet in here but is anyone else sick of seeing play where they fake the hand off to Holmes ? I don't think I've seen work well once.
Actually that depends. This season will be the testing period for Schottenheimer - and the schedules are very favorable for him - i.e. Eagles love to line up with two DEs in wide 9 tech. If Schottenheimer fails to exploit those glaring factors, then he won't be any good. However, if Jets do run the table this year (and possibly all the way to the SB win) with competent offense, then I would be torn between the decisions to make - Jets have invested heavily on Schottenheimer (good 6 years by now) and when he is about to blossom, you cut ties with him? Unless he gets a HC promotion, that's downright dumb decision in my book.
It doesn't matter as long as they go to a guy that calls the current offense as dictated by the rules. Which Schotty did this week. Shotgun. 3 Seconds and out. Multiple WR's, spread the defense side to side.
lets see if he cant take advantage of this patriots defense, would like to see him work in a few draw plays(not on 3rd and 17), not sure if its just me but we rarely run those.
