While the game was not fully on Schotty(Cromartie, the Jets D letting Mike Bush run through them and convert big time on a pass down the sidelines played mighty roles), his neglect of Dustin Keller and his forcing of LT on dump off plays did hurt the team.
They run the ball well on the left or right but they cannot do shit in the middle. I made a post mentioning that they should not use Greene down the middle and more often than not, Schotty continues to do so. Oakland is not a good team when running east and west on the field. Schotty played right into their hands.
LT is the dump off play. He's not the main option. Sanchez chooses LT because the plays downfield aren't there or he doesn't have time for them to develop.

even the anouncers are making fun of schotty calling it a guessing game for the jets and they are guessing all wrong fucking hell what is it about schotty that the jets love i dont even get it its fucking mind-blowing he is easily one of the worst in the league. with the players he has? are you joking? some of the plays being made are incredible. we should be killing teams.
We scored 24 points. This is a team designed to win when the offense does that (and let's remember the Sanchez pick and the fact he was a foot away from 31 points). He makes some weird calls, but whenever the Jets have a bad play it's his fault and no one else and whenever there's a huge gain it's because the players are so good. He's not Bill Walsh but he's fine. We have a pretty average offense and Schotty gets a reasonable amount out of it. Everyone wants to pile on him because it obfuscates the fact that the offense isn't that good; you can throw out the coordinator but not the players. Our QB makes rookie mistakes, our RB doesn't hit the hole as well as he could, our 2nd and 3rd WRs are old (and one of them has prison rust), and our O-line is shaky. What do you expect? We've played three games and scored enough points to win each game. It's not on Schottenheimer.
To me the turning point was 3rd and 2 late in the 3rd quarter and we run 2 pass plays. If you are going for it on 4th then run the ball both plays and get the 2 yards. We keep hearing ground and pound yet when we need 2 yards in a tie game we throw 2 passes, especially bad considering they were killing our OL on pass plays. Schotty is holding back this offense and MUST be fired!!
That was pretty hilarious.. sad, but hilarious because it was true. Phil Simms was trying to be nice, saying like "The Jets are just guessing wrong every time here with what they want to do" when he was really saying "The Jets are getting seriously outcoached here and it's pathetic". Shittenheimer has no feel for a game. No plan. It's like he just picks plays out of a hat and goes with that. It's pathetic. Doesn't play to the strengths of his players or to the weaknesses of the defense. It's just the same old crap.
2 Questions 1) Why would any person try that bootleg in the 4th quarter? I mean after it failed so many times prior. 2) Why would any person go with a pass play on 3rd and 2 with Sanchez as the QB, a weakened offensive line, and many sacks recorded by the opposing team?
Agree 100%. To take it into the passing game and throw in a fresh perspective. I see the probelm as PLAY DESIGN much more than the play calling. Keeping it simple to a couple of specific points. 1. After today Plaxico Buress has caught 1 PASS in 3 games that has called for a pass route. (The 1st play of the game was a quick slant) He has 3TD's that have all been essentially fade routes / jump balls. No crossing routes. No deep posts...No double moves. 2. When was the last time we saw a NYJ WR running down field after the catch. Our WR's and TE's always have some one right on them when they make the catch. The only 2 instances I can think of is a crossing route by Holmes in the 4th quarter of the Cowboy game and a deep cross to #86 in the same game. 3rd and 4th string DB's on the Raiders, Chiefs, or whomever can be made to look like Revis when they have to cover only a 1/4 of the field. No team in their right mind would play zone covrage against us. There is no reason. We haven't run a WR thru a zone in 3 years...if not more!!
That fucking Schotty, that mother fucker should have had the defense playing better. You can't win games giving up 250 yards on the fucking ground. Shotty sucks as a defensive coordinator fire the son of a bitch...............

Stupid ass Schotty, I was cursing that idiot out as Cro was fumbling the kickoff. Schotty sucks so bad even the D & special teams are effected.
Hence, the Jets loss the game for a number reasons. And instead of focusing solely on Schotty's screw ups we should acknowledge the other problems as well. Yeah, I agree. Fully grasping this makes me realize the Jets is just not good this season (yeah its only Week 3). Last season Jets had better positives that bailed them out.
