That was all Rob Ryan. They knew that play was coming. (watch the tape.) Lee passes Keller off, then turns and mirrors underneath. after the play Homo comes over and compliments RR. And, When did Shonn turn into a pussy, did I not get that memo? He missed an easy tackle on that play, and then On the Holmes slant later, Plax lays Jenkins out, and Shonn tries to hug Abe Elam, If he hit him like the bruiser he's supposed to be, Tone is still running.
They stuffed our run game, I'll give them credit there. But we have probowl wideouts, junc. We should've exploited the shit out of Dallas's secondary. Imagine if our secondary was full of 2nd/3rd stringers, the Cowboys' passing game would've fucking killed us. That's the problem with Schotty, it's the SAME approach every year. With the talent we have on offense, we shouldn't be playing from behind every game. This is Mark's 3rd year, it's time to take the training wheels off. This.
Sanchez was not 'inconsistent' he completed 59%, with the crappy play calling. It's time to stop blaming mark, he makes money throws at money time. The fact that he has to be in money time, is not his fault, it's his bosses fault
MB, Maybe it's not training wheels. Maybe, just fucking maybe, Schotty is incapable of understanding the modern evolution of offense, to negate pass pressure?
Holmes has never made a pro bowl Plax has never made a pro bowl Mason last made one in 2003 He has also barely had any time to work w/ the 2 new guys, it's a work in progress and the passing game was pretty good last night especially since we didn't have any run game to take pressure off the pass game.
god, i hope not. Mark needs to grow in this offense, not be stunted in it. This is year 3 now, we need more consistency for the whole 60 minutes, not just the last 2 or 3 mins of the game.
Regardless...they're still premier wideouts. He's not throwing to Dwayne Jarrett, is the point i'm trying to make. Rex has a lot of work to do. If Romo wasn't such a retard, we lose that game.
Dude, he threw for 59%. (and was great on the quick throws) The one glaring thing I saw in the tape, was on the strip sack in the 4th, He never looked right. (He'd have seen Keller getting a short free release) I cant claim to know the design of the play, but it looked like it was Plax all the way, Outside the numbers and deep, because even Keller, who was wide open in the right flat, took 5 steps and stopped. Plax was running to the db, and when Sanchez gets hit from behind, he was in the process of going down the sideline. (and kind of, that's coaching. If you're going o run a long pass play isolating Plax deep, have the QB check the other side of the field first, you know, look the safety off) You need to take what the Defense is giving up.
Ummm part of the reason we were playing behind all night was because Dallas drove the ball right through our assholes on the opening drive
How can anyone think Schotty called a good game when: They didn't score until the last two minutes of the half; and He only called one screen pass to LT when it clearly worked the first time, but instead threw those stupid screens to wide receivers that went nowhere.
That may be the case, but I lay the blame on Holmes. He clearly saw Greene's attempt at blocking Elam. Even with a clean block, I don't think he had the angle to make it to the outside. If he had run inside of the block, he had room to run. There were defenders to the inside, but with his speed, he could have then cut immediately back out to the outside once he got around Elam. If nothing else, he would have gone forward and gained an additional 3-5 yards, instead of running East-West.
But that's exactly what Schotty DOESNT do. He thinks he is a master game planner and will stubbornly do what he wants rather than reacting to the defense. We should've been throwing screens to LT and quick slants to Holmes all day. Instead, we get a combination of a quick throw to the WR, a running play to the inside for 2 yards and then a throw on third down that is 2-3 yards short of the first down. Sanchez longer passes worked and Schotty's deep passing plays were good, but he showed no competence in addressing the passrush (something he should be familiar with).
We're always reactive. We're never proactive! We never make a defense adjust to what we're doing. We always are trying to adjust to what they are doing. We're never in attack mode. We're counter punchers. That shit only works for Floyd Mayweather lol
They were teeing off on the snap count - not just stuffing the run, but they were jumping all game. Of course Jets O doesn't punish them for doing that. Of course, that's all Mark Sanchez. Schotty is not to blame. I mean, screen pass to LT happened ONCE for crying out loud. (And it went for a huge chunk of yardage too.) Or did Mark induce offside to convert 3rd down to 1st? Remember, these bullshits are the kind of stuff other offenses do to neutralize Rex Ryan's hounds EVERY FUCKING GAME. Schotty can't learn from what he sees on the field?
This!! Exactly this.. this is what I've been saying for years about this guy. We never come out and do anything early in the game because the DC is always way ahead of Shotty and seemingly better prepared to attack the Jets O than Shotty is to attack the other team's D. Happens week in and week out. I think this plus every game the Jets have extra time to prepare for a game, we come out terrible really shows a lot about Shotty's ability to game plan and attack a defense. I give him credit in that he adjusts pretty well during games, but we can't just keep being put in holes to start every single game.
I don't think it's necessarily taking the training wheels off, I think it's Shotty just not being able to exploit the weaknesses of a defense and make things easy for Sanchez and the offense. Last night looked like Shotty had no idea the Cowboys would be blitzing and bringing pressure. It's like the Jets come out with the same offensive gameplan week in and week out instead of altering it to attack weaknesses. DC's seemingly know what is coming and then the offense has to adjust based on what the D is doing instead of making the D adjust to us.
Why do I feel like Schotty's mindset is this: Play worked well- Can't happen again so we can't go back to it. Play Didn't Work- Well eventually it will.
