What makes you think he wouldn’t have been?

I really don't want to interrupt your discussion, but it seems to me that you just made the argument against applying the title of "GOAT" to TB12.

    I'll butt out now!

I think defenses were better in the 80s/90s. I think teams in general were stronger, top to bottom. Marino had the Bills in his own division, a hell of a team with HOFers, plural, on offense and defense. The AFC East had nothing like that with Brady

Elway lost superbowls to the Giants with LT (a better defensive player than Brady ever had to face) & the 49ers who were the Brady Patriots of the era...

    Howso?

Fair, but it’s not like Brady played against scrubs. He had the Steelers and Ravens defenses in the conference through the years and had to go head to head with Ben, Rivers, and Peyton.

It’s not like the Jets compete to those Bills teams, but we weren’t a complete rollover from 2001-2010.

Not a single Patriots mention in the 9 slide post.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you seem to be saying that you can't compare eras.

If that's true, then how can anyone be the greatest of all time?

I shouldn't have interrupted your discussion. This is just an opinion argument, and you are entitled to yours.

    Please, continue. I'm out.

You can interrupt bro lol. I like reading your rebuttals and posts.

What I was getting at was that I don’t think about whether someone’s skill set is transferable to a different era of football when considering who the greatest is. Someone born in the 1920s would have played the game much differently than someone born in the 1970s because they were taught the game a different way and basically raised in a different society.

Massive dick move by Brady to not even mention the Patriots in his lengthy statement. Wonder if they'll delay retiring his number? Or if he'll come out with a "special message" for them when Kraft tells him they're pissed?

Anyway, I'm pleased that he didn't get to orchestrate this the way he wanted. Way to go, Schefter.

The slimy weasel didn’t actually use the word “retire” in any form either:

I am not going to make that competitive commitment anymore.”

Yeah, do we sense a certain ambivalence here? LOL. I'm still betting that Giselle put her foot down and forced him to retire - er, I mean "de-commit." His statement sounds like a hostage tape.

I wonder if he'll wind up like the other retired stars -- Peyton, Eli, Shaq, Frank Thomas etc. - and start hawking sketchy products on TV. Life can become difficult when the cheering stops.

Thank you very much, and the same to you.

It’s great to exchange ideas and points of view, but this GOAT argument is not the kind of discussion where one side is ever going to convince the other.

For what it’s worth, I don’t even believe in GOATs, especially when it comes to team sports.

It's all good. As long as everyone remains civil and respectful, that’s what talking sports is all about.

The other day, someone on TV said something about Brady Fatigue.

    I’ve had it for years.

Tighten your chin strap, because we are in for a lot of boot licking between now and Canton.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I get it. You think he was great. Even the greatest.

Good for you. I’m a Jets fan. Now go away.

    And eff him!

That’s because he intends to collect that bonus on the 5th.

Yes, but I thought he'd be okay if he said, "I'm retiring" today, and then put the paperwork in next week.

Not sure if that's the case.
