Brady Quinn, Adrian Peterson, and Chris Leak are all good options... But I'm going to go with Ted Ginn Jr., will be Ohio State's top option this year with Holmes gone and will have a lot of plays that are made to utilize his skills (like Reggie Bush). Ginn is also a fantastic kick and punt returner, and those stats will also help his cause greatly. I also see Ohio State (unfortunately) running the table to win the Big Ten and get in the Championship game, so that can't hurt.
Chris Leak isn't winning anything. He'll be lucky to be starting by the end of the year. Meyer has nothing staked in him, and Tebow has already shown what he can do in that offense. My gut tells me that he'll let Leak take the beating early on in the year, and once he feels the rest of the team has gelled, plug in Tebow so he'll be ready for a run at the title with his recruits in 07. And if OSU goes undefeated, it'd mean that Troy Smith is the best QB in the country, and they'll pretty much throw the award at him (unless another big name does the same, ie Quinn or AD).
I was actually going to say troy smith. I think he takes it this year. I hate how people compare him to young, smith is a much better passer IMO. And i think he showed that towards the end last year. And BTW i picked omar jacobs last year
An undefeated season and a national title would be exactly what Notre Dame needs to get Quinn a Heisman. Honestly I wanted the Jets to do poorly this year to pick him up in the first round, should Pennington or Ramsey not live up to their end of the deal.
IMO, OSU doesn't use Ginn enough to warrant the Heisman, Tressel is too conservative. I don't see OSU beating Texas in Austin. OSU's defense has taken a major hit.........alot of new starters.
MVP of the 04 Sugar Bowl, but decidedly poor/mediocre over the past two seasons. He wasn't able to take advantage of his stellar freshman year, so I really have no problem believing that if Broussard plays up to potential, Vincent will be limited to backup touches.
Here is Mel Kipers top list of candidates from 11th sept.... Quinn knocked down to 2. I think its still way to early to have a good handle on whos going to be there come crunch time , but interesting nonetheless. Ted Ginn will court alot of interest as the only WR up there so he may be an outside shot. Name Position School Year 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th Total Troy Smith .......QB.. i wouldnt say all that. he's still a sentimental fav. for many. If he bounces back w/ 2-3 great performances he'll be back in the race.
After his performance against Michigan, I highly doubt he comes anywhere near a Heisman, let alone "Top QB" at the end of the year. I think Adrian Peterson wins the Heisman. Heisman Nominee Sleeper- Mario Manningham WR. He reminds me of a WAY better Braylon Edwards for that team.
Sentimental favorite? You make it seem like we should feel sorry for him because he has choked repeatedly. God I hate ND sympathizers.
