I think Patriots need to lose the division to break the curse.

so since qb is a team position, tom brady has 9 playoff wins in the past 10 years, peyton manning 8, mark sanchez 4.

    sanchez wins!!!!

oh and what qb has had 2 sts tds and some other shit and lost by 3 pts in the conf championship game with a surgically repaired neck that most people wouldnt even try to play with. turns out tingly fingers and not feeling them is not a big plus for throwing a football.

we are on a message board, would you enjoy it more if a typical discussion went like this:

poster a: I think Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are 2 of the finest QBs to ever play the game
poster b: I concur, bravo to Peyton and Tom!

what fun would that be? I have said it many, many times. all of these discussions are meaningless, we all waste our time arguing about what others can do that we cannot but if we are going to do it we might as well have fun w/ it.

    Now, on to your points.

I would say 90% of the time Manning has had better teams.

How did the great BB do w/o Brady? I know Fox made a SB w/o Peyton, I know Dungy made a title game w/o Peyton and I know both were over .500 and had many playoff apps w/o Manning.

BB? under .500 coach w/o Brady, ONE playoff app, ONE playoff app, zero title game or SB apps.

Manning has more MVPs/All Pro b/c he is a #s guy. Has always had much better talent and played most of his career in domes.

As far as your link, you talk about lazy? that is compiled stats w/o any context making excuses for Manning.

when I have more time I will shred that weak argument piece by piece but I will take this excuse for now:

looking for an excuse as if close losses are better but let's look at his 5 home losses:

1999: 19-16 loss to Tennessee, leads late TD drive to make game look closer. had to kick late OS kick for a chance to win. led O to 9 pts in competitive portion of game and D only allowed 19 pts but somehow this was not Peyton's fault at all.

2005: 21-18 loss to Pitt. Was given multiple gifts to even be in the game. Led O to 3 pts through 3 qtrs., threw apparent game ending INt in 4th that was miraculously overturned then after a 4 and out taking a sack at his 2 he gets the gift of all gifts- a fumble by Bettis returned near midfield w/ plenty of time to tie it. had 2nd and 3rd and 2 from Pitt 26, goes to EZ 2 times to try for win rather than get closer for his shaky K but as well all know Kicker missed it and it was Kicker's fault.

2008: 28-24 loss to SD. One of only 2 of 11 playoff losses where he led his O to more than 20 pts. 4 pt loss where he threw TWO RZ INTs preventing at least 6 pts in a 4 pt loss but it was everyone else's fault but his.

2010: 17-16 loss to Jets. Only puts up 16 pts at home. has ball in his hands late in FG range, one first down means they kick a FG w/ no chance for the Jets to come back. gets stopped on 3rd down, makes his K kick 50 yd FG to take lead. Gives Mark Sanchez(who is awful, right?) the same situation Peyton had in 2005(except mark was on the road and the FG wins it). mark sets up a chip shot FG and Jets win.

2012: 38-35 loss in 2OT. This was all the fault of the DB for the awful play at the end of regulation, right? How was the game even close at that point? how did Bal even have a chance? Den scored FOURTEEN STs points, 14 free pts for the great Peyton. What does Peyton do? pick 6 and 2 INts leading directly to 14 pts in regulation to give Bal a chance. Then w/ a chance to run out the clock he fails giving Flacco a chance to tie it. In OT he got the ball multiple times, did he lead his O to the win? Nope, he throws an INT on the Den side of the field to set up the GW FG for Baltimore.

14 total pts and in each one he was the main culprit but those excuses look great at that link!

I don't find Manning vs Brady a fun debate and am only willing to waste my time on it to the extent I already have wasted time on it. As a Jets fan, there is no dog in the fight for me and I don't find the debate interesting.

What would be a bit more interesting, for me, would be comparing the teams through the years. That would mean I'd have to immerse myself in all things Colts and Patriots for a decade plus and that would be yucky.

I can have fun with other debates. Again, if you want to proclaim you won this argument because I was unwilling to answer the bell, then so be it.

I don't proclaim anything, the facts back me up. I present them, I think I do a good job of that. if folks believe Peyton is better that's ok. I sleep well at night either way but I do have fun w/ the arguments.

What's defensive adjusted passer rating? Do you have a link to it?

I think I've only seen it once before, but never checked it.

EDIT: I'm guessing this shows that P. Manning has less of a drop off from regular season to postseason vs Tom Brady?

its explained in the link cakes posted as a calculation of pass stats that takes the opposing d into account. so basically the higher the number the better.

i just find it amusing that junc claims the link cakes posted as stats without context when the entire point of the article is to provide context to those stats

Let's be honest, other than the 6 TD game against Tebow, he's been a postseason bust since their last SB win.

Yes it's a funny descriptor that captures the pain u felt when The Great One went to 2-1 vs your Patsies in the title game. What I'm trying to tell you is that Manning > Brady.

it is w/o context, they are blind #s where a TD thrown in the 1st qtr against Jacksonville counts the same as a GW TD in the SB. it's nonsense excuse making, I see it all the time and I shred it all the time. I will shred the whole thing soon enough, I already shredded the point about the home playoff losses.

Or how about when statistics harm his argument, and therefore, they are then deemed "meaningless fantasy #s" by him. No credibility whatsoever. But still funny.

This is one of the standard cop-outs he uses regularly. An obvious fallacy.

Instead of repeating the same arguments over and over about Manning, how about you explain how and why and when Brady has performed well in the playoffs , particularly from 2005 to the present ?????????? Because I look at the games from 2005 on and see a long list of mediocre to poor performances in games where the Pats were the better team year after year after year, kind of what was detailed in the article linked by Cakes. I can go game by game with Brady and point out failure after failure and below average play in big games starting in 2005 and ending with Sunday, even in games the Pats won. It is king of telling, isn't it, that Brady has not been on the road or an underdog since the AFC title game against the Colts in the 2006 season, yet has a .500 winning percentage in the post season and played poorly in some of the wins and badly in many of the losses??????

you shredded absolutely nothing. all you did was leave out things that the article said and put things in there that fit your narrative

    SHREDDED! :drunk:

if you really think there is no context in that article, then you did nothing but scan through it and look at the charts

If you have read my posts you would note that I haven't said Brady has been great since 2005.

You can go game by game but you won't find similar results. You won't see getting 14 Sts pts and throwing 3 picks leading to 17 pts in a 3 pt loss, you won't find an INT for a TD to end a SB(or any playoff game), you won't find repeatedly losing games b/c he couldn't lead his O to one first down to end it. You will find plenty of failures but that is minimized based on so many more successes despite playing 3 less seasons in the league.

a dose of reality was added, the excuse was "they lost close games, it's not Peyton's fault" but the reality is each one of those losses was primarily on peyton. show me where it wasn't his fault? show me where he played well and despite his efforts the team around him caved?

Thanks for point that out, going to read about it. That's a good idea to judge against the opposing pass defenses
