They were up 24-7 with 8 minutes remaining in the 4th qtr. A 3 possession game with 8 minutes left at home should be plenty. They also missed a field goal and had a Julius Thomas fumble in Charger territory. Neither being Peyton's fault.
Manning was great yesterday.. maybe his best postseason game, besides when he took us down in the 09 AFC Champ game. A lot of what he did gets understated. McCoy took his experience with Manning last year with him to SD and the last time they played he tipped off his D on Manning's pre-snap tendencies and cadence. It gave them a real advantage in their last meeting. Manning recognized this and he changed it up completely yesterday.. what happened? 5 pre-snap penalties on the defense, most in an NFL game in years. SD had 3 ALL SEASON. I thought he had some masterful audibles as well that threw SD's defense off. All of these things get overlooked. He was great yesterday. I don't know why any dumbass would blame the endzone INT on Manning but even if you are that dumb to do so, he was great the entire rest of the game.
Ben is going to be a HOFer, the other 2 I mentioned aren't. The Thomas fumble was early in the game, they also got a FG that looked like it missed(much like ours at Mia week 17 which they called no good). He made plays to close it out like a great QB should. if he would have done that more often in his career he'd have more than 2 SB apps and more than 1 SB win.
I really wish people could or would read. The bad decision led to the INT, yes he got unlucky w/ the bounce but the bad decision made that bounce possible. I thought he was really good most of the game, excellent all around game despite lesser #s than people would associate w/ a game like that.
how so? if he runs out the clock in SD 2008 they advance to the div rd and have a chance if he runs out the clock in '10 against us he goes to the div rd and has a chance if he runs out the clock last year he hosts the title game and have a great chance to win a SB
I was referring to yesterday's game only. I do think Peyton overthinks close and late situations sometimes. But if we're looking at Brady's recent playoff efforts too he's put up some stinkers, while his defense has played pretty solid. There's just so many things that can happen when two close teams play eAchother it's hard for me to put all of the blame on one player. Only one team can win the Super Bowl.
That really wasn't left up to him. Denver ran the ball on all 5 of their plays before punting it to Baltimore and trusting them to protect a touchdown lead with a little over a minute left.
I never put it all on one player, obviously it's not all Peyton's fault but he is the best player on his team and when he doesn't come through it hurts more than when others don't play well. so they didn't trust Peyton Manning? shouldn't that tell you something? They also didn't trust him to get into FG range w/o turning it over w/ 30 secs left and 2 TOs.
Wow what a perfect drive, 7 minutes off the clock, a bunch of 3rd down conversions. Peyton Manning getting it done!
