I hope Fitz throws 6 picks again and the Jets lose 42-0. Screw Todd Bowles. Worst coach in the league, it's only right for him to play the worst QB in the league.
I do not get the wishing for the Jets to get destroyed, and Fitz to throw INTs so we can screw Bowles mentality...What good will that do for development of young players for the future....
It will take away the false rationale that this season can be salvaged and force this CS to go into evaluation mode for 2017. Fitz plays like Fitz and we can drop the narrative that he gives us the best chance to win. Bowles is far too concerned with the feeling of his vets who have produced NOTHING. He's a player's coach and in this case, its hurting the franchise. This team won't have a clue come draft day 2017 what they really need although they always draft BPA anyway. What they need is a huge kick in the ass to wake them up from their 2015 10-6 hangover. Then again, we would screw up the top 5 pick anyway probably drafting another DE or CB. One thing is certain. If Fitz plays like Fitz, its gonna get really ugly at MetLife on Sunday afternoon.
I never thought I'd really say this, but I truly wonder where this franchise would be if we stayed the course with Nacho. Seeing quarterbacks fully maturing in the 5th/6th/7th year of the league makes me wonder where he and the Jets would be, if we kept building around him instead of dismantling his offense completely. He went from having Santonio/Braylon/Cotchery/Brad Smith to Santonio/Plaxico/Derrick Mason(cut mid season) from 2010 to 2011. Fuck. Looking at that makes me think we need to keep Marshall and Decker regardless of age & money (while I was previously on board with cutting one of them). Make sure whatever young quarterback we have next year has professional wide receivers to throw to.
I agree regarding Marshall and Decker, but Sanchez failed in Philly and Denver, so I don't think he would've succeeded here.
I'm with you. I've tried hard to like Bowles but this is over the line. Fitz should be cut forthwith not starting a game. This just makes no sense. He's trying to protect Petty or just thinks he sucks. I'm baffled by this bullshit. I'm officially on the fire Bowles bandwagon. Fitz has no business ever starting for the Jets again. Well this is either Bowles being a moron or Woody being a moron because we have a shit ton of home games left. If it's the latter then we have bigger problems than who's playing QB in a 3-7 season anyway. If it's the former you'd have to think someone (Woody or Macc) gets in his ear before the end of the season and pulls rank. I kind of think that happened with Geno anyway when he got his start after Bowles insisted Fitz was playing. They could also legit not think Petty's any good, which wouldn't be good for Macc or us.
Neither is Fitz to be sure. So are they writing Petty off already, even as a back up. Plus, who decided that? the same clowns that though Fitz was the answer this year? Petty with his hands tied looked better than Fitz and his genious IQ.
To me this move sends a miserable message to all the Jet fans and to Petty. Basically it says..Petty is not the answer, sorry, even though we haven't done shit to develop him. So you suckers are stuck with Fitz, who totally sucks but we have a chance with him to loose a closer game and in so doing guarantee we will go into next year without any answers. But trust us, because we have a long term plan. Then proceed to draft another QB in the second round and don't let him play either because we will have some old fart practicing with the first team offense. Fuck that.
I know I'm in a minority but I think starting Fitz against the Pats is the right thing to do. Not that I want to see Fitz play anymore, but it's not true that there isn't anything to play for. Beating the Pats is all that's left and for the Jets, that's something. As a coach, you preach staying together as a team through adversity, sticking up for each other, playing one game at a time, and all that BS that goes with motivating a team. After all this team has been through, how can a coach pull the guy who gives the team the best chance to win a big game? Bowles would completely lose the respect of the team if he did that.
I think it would be different if Fitzpatrick wasn't one of the main reasons that the team is 3-7. But, given that he's such a large part of the reason that the season has gone down the toilet, I don't feel like the whole "he gives us the best chance to win" thing carries much weight. If he gave you that great a chance to win, you wouldn't be 3-7 and he wouldn't lead the league in interceptions.
Westie...I'm not convinced Fitz is the best option. He can't stretch the defense. He will target Marshall and nothing else.
Bowles is awful. I've been done with him since week 6 or so. He is not the answer at coach long term. Petty isn't the long term answer either but why not give him a shot?
Somebody please shoot Bowles or me, or both. Getting rid of Bowles will help the development of the young players. Playing for a clueless, cowardly excuse for a HC who doesn't hold his players accountable or have a clue how to put his players in a position to succeed isn't going to help the young players develop for certain.
Not disputing Fitzpatrick's weaknesses. Fitzpatrick beat the Pats last year. Petty hasn't beaten anyone. If you were a member of the Jets going to face your arch rival, which one would you want to be at QB?
