Unless Drew Brees is walking through those Florham Park doors we have to resign Fitz and sign a capable backup.

    Trade Geno to some team

No trade value for a guy who is only gonna cost 500k against the cap if his team cuts him first

I understand what you're saying, but during OTAs, mini-camps and at least part of TC, the other two QBs will be getting reps anyway, correct? In addition, with the way the offense performed at times this season, imo they could use the extra reps to improve execution. Still, I can understand why Bowles would just name Fitz the starter. I don't have a big problem with it, would just prefer that if there is any possibility that another one of the Jets' QBs could give the Jets a better chance to play well in the windy NE in December and January, that they give that player the chance. I appreciate what Fitz did for us this year and like him. I just think that he's not going to be good enough to take us any further next year.

FITZMAGIC recently turned 33. It is reasonable to think that he has another 2-3 years left to play at a high level. If he puts up another 31TD 15INT stat line in 2016, I would not mind him starting again in 2017. Of course we don't know if he will, but he could be a Vinny-type QB for the Jets. Vinny came to the Jets late, but had a nice 4 year run as a starter.

He's earned the right to start next year. Unless Brees is available the same 3 QB's should be brought back.

Im down to bring Fitz back for one more. That was the best passing offense since 02, it was refreshing to watch.

Its pretty clear if we shell out millions to sign Fitz he is going to start. Its not like we really have any other options at this point. Hopefully Petty will develop into something decent after another year or two of development. I really hope we can re-sign Powell and draft an Ivory-like bruising running back in the draft. Powell has low mileage on him and his style contrasts nicely with a powerful runner. With Powell, Marshall, and Decker all back we'd actually have some offensive consistency for the first time in a while with good skilled position players. Still haven't given up completely on Amaro, despite the fact that Chan doesn't throw passes to tight ends much in his system. Watched a lot of Amaro in college, he is a rare big guy who can catch and run fluidly. It would be nice if we could exploit his potential and he panned out after missing this year to injury.

I like Fitz...but only Mr Good Fitz...he can't revert back to bad form imo

BTW when is it Petty Time Already???????

    Dump Geno

Move Bryce up to back up....let the kid win some games for us when Ryan hurts his thumb again

Someone's gonna say Smith is cheap, keep him on roster etc. But with the offseason coming maybe we find some suckers and use GSmith part of a trade package

Don't get why you'd commit to Fitz a year in advance. He's not getting any younger, his arm isn't good at this point to begin with. This makes me almost hope we don't re-sign him, I don't want him back as a clear cut starter because I don't know what he'll be like in a year. It wasn't good enough this year, it certainly won't be enough next year with less zip, he's no Carson Palmer.

Bring him back, let him compete. Either he beats out Petty or Petty beats him out and we have a solid backup mentor our young potential franchise QB. Kind of like Brunell/Sanchez. If for whatever reason Petty is out of the picture as a starter and I don't know why he would be, then go get a guy who is good enough to get us to the superbowl (Brees).

I don't think you can dump your best QB in years, with nothing else in the pipeline.
Basically, it's Fitz job to lose at this point. At best, he has another good year, at worst, he's a solid back up.

Regardless of when Petty is ready, I'm sure he'll do well when the receivers get into the great wide open.

Yes, with nothing else in pipeline

Plus he has chemistry already with Decker, Marshall

Is he a SB QB????.......dude hasn't even gone to a playoff. One bad throw 1/3/16 took care of that

Bowles/Mac are riding him next year for an 11-4 maybe 11-5 season. Then no PO or pooch in first round....Predicting

Good for their resume bad for the fans
