Funny, because the ONE time I saw them, they only scored 6 points against the Bengals. And we all know how much of a good idea it is to make an assessment on a team after watching 1 game, right?

Nobody said the Dolphins will be an easy win. Rivalry games are usually tough and have about a 50/50 chance of having the Jets winning. Considering recent history and the fact that this is a Rex Ryan D (the same STYLE of D that brought the pressure on Chad and made him shit the bed), I'd have to say we stand a good chance at winning this game in their house as well.

No we don't. If our D is able to hold teams off to 10-17 points, I think we stand a strong chance at winning some of those games. Not all of them. This is about as real as it gets.

It's Pre-Season. We were missing a couple of starters on the line in our 1st Pre-Season game, TJ doesn't run hard in Pre-Season anyway, and LW has been tearing it up whenever he got the chance. What the hell have you been watching if you're a so-called "Jets fan"?

This just leads me to believe you're Channing Crowder with a TGG account. Just make sure you suit up come Week 5 Channing and don't worry about the Jets. Worry about yourself and keeping the Dolphins above water this season.

Fair enough. If Chad goes down, what happens with the Dolphins? If Tom Brady goes down, what happens to them? If Joey Porter gets hurt, who steps in to replace him?

Injuries suck. They will happen. The only teams that could get away with a few somewhat key injuries in the entire Division are probably the Patriots. Otherwise, if a key injuries happens to any other squad in the AFC East, they're fucked. Very few teams have more than enough depth at valuable positions. We're not in the same league (with regards to depth) as the Giants, Steelers, Ravens-ses of the league. It's something you try to avoid and play thru. It's the best one can hope for.

What if Big Ben gets a season-ending injury. Who steps in? What if Peyton Manning goes down? What if Ray Lewis and Ed Reed go down? Who steps in their shoes and plays to their same level and intensity?

I'll tell you what, I'll stop predicting 4-5 wins when you choose one team to root for.

Now how about you stfu. Thanks.

If we win 7, I'll consider it an overwhelming success.

Sign me up for 2-3 over that stretch as long as we dont have any key injuries, Jenkins, Revis, Mangold & Leon. Maybe if we get a few breaks our way, I might HOPE for 3-2.

I thought you were a smart football fan. Come on man! That just sounds mean. 5 if we overachieve? Are you a Patriots fan?

I know you are but what am I? I mean you cannot be 7 and still in the 80's can you.

    But reguardless of that.

I don't think the situation is as dire as you said in your post. I don't think we are headed for a great season but I like Rex and think he will be a good coach. He does not deserve to be compared to kotite just based on 3 preseason games. Lets see where we are after the season before we make that kind of comparison.

The thing with that is we're talking apples and oranges. It's usually unlikely that when your starting QB goes down that you have a backup capable of playing as good as the starter, or even near the same level.

The depth most people talk about that we lack is on the lines. It's not impossible to have depth on the lines, though obviously you aren't going to have two Jenkins, but Pouha?

If any of our linemen go down, we're in trouble. We're going to have a tough time just missing Ellis in Houston. Imagine we lose a OL? Sanchez will be in deep shit.

I think everyone on this board is severely underestimating how much the pass-rush will be weakened by Ellis & Pace being out week 1. Revis can't be expected to cover Andre Johnson for 5 seconds, it's just not going to happen.

The Saints offense looks NASTY thusfar. I honestly think they would beat the Giants if they played them week 2 in the dome. Drew Brees is an amazing QB and I don't think it's talking shit to say he could have a great game against a 3-4 defense missing its best rush LB.

Tennessee is one that I think is winnable, but again it boils down to pressure. If Ryan's schemes can overcome Pace being out then I think the Jets can win this one. And, of course, solid play against the run is going to be required as well. I think the Jets could win this one.

Patriots-Rookie QB, HC, and no Pace against a healthy (I think) Brady having fun playing with his all-world wideout cast probably yields a Jets' loss.

The Jets will beat Miami unless Chad has learned how to play against a Rex Ryan defense since his last atrocious outing.

I predict a 2-3 start (and I know the games aren't in order, I have a migraine and don't care). 0-5 is just as extreme as suggesting 5-0.

What about 4-5 wins as my prediction makes me a stupid football fan? Personally, I think it's absolutely ridiculous to think this team can end this season at .500, and I've seen people predict as many as 10 wins!

I'm not wearing my green-colored glasses going into this season. Honestly, after watching the Giants game, I think this team has enough talent and preparedness to win 6 games. Six. Not a chance they win 7. I predicted 4 in JetsNClownboys' thread, and I detailed it for him. Not good enough? Who gives a shit? We'll see in 18 weeks who was closer.

The point I'm trying to make is, if we were to look at the team the way it is right now, how far would we go the first 5 games. No injuries. Nothing. The way it is now. We'll miss Pace and Ellis, but Pitoitua(sp) and Westerman have stepped up. I like them. Like I've said before and I'll say it again. Rex Ryan's D doesn't make it so that you're constantly attacking the same gap. He mixes it up. I believe more in the scheme, than the actual talent. Guys will be free to get to the QB. We will find ways to contains run to the outside. I don't know about anybody else, but I'm not worried about losing Ellis and Pace. Will we miss them? For sure. But I think we'll be fine without them for the time being. I really believe that.

I hear you. My thing this year though is: forget faith.

I go into every year full of faith and by mid-November I'm left waiting for baseball season to start again. The letdown last year really soured me, so I'm looking at constant worst-case scenarios, and I refuse to see any silver linings.

Believe you me, I want to be wrong. I desperately want this team to win. I just don't see how it's going to work out this year.

If Chad goes down then they have our QB situation. lol

Brady went down last year and they still finished 2 wins better then us.

Joey Porter, Peton Manning, Ray Lewis are standout players.

My point was it doesn't have to be a Revis. We cant even afford to lose a starter on defense. We have terrible depth.

I feel there is too much talent on this team and too much parody in the league for them to only win 5 games tops. I think 8 is more realistic. If the Jets do start (1-4) or (0-5) then maybe you will be right since the team will already feel that it is over.

    I have been a Jets fan for 30 years. I'm 34.

No matter how rough it is, I never go into a season truly believing we are not going to win games. 0 - 5 to start, I don't believe it.

I honestly do not think we're that bad off right now. I honestly believe we will win games, very possibly the Texans game and with a lot of luck the Pats game and more.

If you all really believe we suck so badly, why post on this site? Why pay for games?

7 hours round trip for me and I don't go to games believing we're going to lose. That is fucking retarded. I get the whole realist thing but come on bitches.

So really the only problem is depth? Great. Everybody knew this already. We don't have the best depth. How about we wait until roster cuts are made around the league before we see what it is we have exactly. Apparently, it looks like we might have solved the run-blocking TE situation.

Writing us off before the 4th Pre-season game (when all the backups are measured for depth) and roster cuts is ridiculous.

Exactly, tenn without Haynesworth doesn't scare me one bit, even in their house. I absolutely think our D will be better this year. I see Houston as a winnable game.

This writer must think he's real clever... rookie QB, rookie HC... let's predict a losing season! How generic.

I bet this moron couldn't name 10 starters on the Jets.

Of the first 5, the only ones I feel we have a shot at are Houston and Miami, and I don't think we will beat Houston. Depending on our ability to stop the run against Miami, we may not win that game either. They'd be stupid to let Chad throw all day against this defensive unit.

I love how people will sit there and act like I'm the assclown because I'm looking at this team and the schedule and saying to myself "It's going to be hard to win games this year."

I don't want to lose games. I hope to win. I see reasons why it won't happen. If you don't, congratulations. Only one of us has a chance at being disappointed this year though.

I'm looking forward to next year. That's when I see us making the playoff push. This year, I'll just enjoy whatever bones this team throws my way.

I respect your opinion tremendously Alio, so I'll ask you directly... what exactly is it about New Orleans that no one thinks we're going to beat them?

Sure, Drew Brees is the shit... but what else does have New Orleans have that makes them so much more special than the Jets? I've seen just about unanimous prediction that the Jets won't stand a chance against New Orleans... I just don't see it.
