We would definitely have to stink up the joint not to win a game in the month of September. This board would be chaos.

Walking under tall structures in October might be risky if that does happen. Let the bodies hit the floor.

There's appropriate pessimism based on the facts and then there's lunacy. The worst team in the league shouldn't be expected to open up 0-5 against that schedule. Yes, it's a possibility but only of about the same chance of occurring as Brady getting blindsided and having his knee go out again in the first 5 games of the season. Very low chances on both sides.

The NFL sees a real upset every Sunday. That's why there's only one person left in the suicide pool by week 12 every season. The Jets are one of the underdogs this year that I would most expect to break people's hearts and drop them out of the pool.

The Titans are an automatic loss? This guy is clueless. I'm sorry but the Jets rail roaded that great defense last season with albert haynesworth. They ran all over em! I'm honestly not afraid of anyone on that offense except chris johnson.

the most unwinnable games will probably be the pats and saints.

I will be happy with going 2-3 in the first 5 but I do not think 0 and 5 will happen.

We will start out 2-3. Beating Houston and Miami. We can beat any of these teams, short of New England, IMO.

The only way I see the Jets losing all those games is if the penalties continue and Sanchez plays like absolute crap.

Funny because the only time I watched NE this preseason Brady was throwing lasers all over the field to a wide open Moss and Fred Taylor was tearing it up with Malroney. They will score 35 points on us before the 4th quarter. Hell they may have their second string in by the 4th quarter against us.

I also love how everyone seems to think the phins are an easy win for us. We struggled both games against them last year and they wern't as good as they are this year. ANd they have Parcells who NEVER loses to the same team twice in a row....yet many beleive a sweep of the fins is a lock.

Wake up guys. For us to have a winning record we will have to be the team who is blessed by higher powers.

Even our running game which was our best thing last season doesn't feel as strong. So what is our big weapon to win games this season?

Lemme go really darksider here. Ryan has showed squat. He walks around the sideline during the game looking like he is clueless. Then he will stop and joke around before going back to looking clueless. His best skill has been to talk about the Jets to the media like we are a playoff team. Talk doesn't win games. I got a feeling this is going to be Kotite bad this season.

Looking clueless? He's calling the D. A vanilla D up to this point. Did you see those delayed 2 tier blitzes? Those weren't here last year, but most of the team still is, with some serious additions.

The running game suffered from the line early on, but it's coming around. If Greene turns out to be what most hope he is, forget it, the running game is going to slay.

Parcells never loses to the same team twice? Where in the hell did you pull that out of? And what does it matter, he's in charge of FB operations.

Crazy talk man, its crazy talk.

The only times I'm concerned about the media's take on the Jets, is when it's positive. They usually get the bandwagon going too early and Schrager is just being realistically cautious here.
I think he underestimates our defense in those first 5 games though, and those teams won't be scoring as many points as he thinks. And that's really all I've heard from Rex Ryan - reading between lines, looking past all the smoke and mirrors and bulletin board quotes.
Our defense will keep us in games and if our offense doesn't turn the ball over more often than the defense is taking it away - we'll win more than we lose.

I'd love to beleive it. But I haven't seen anything to make me believe it.

How are we going to win games? Lantern says our defense. Our defense is barely above average and has no depth at all. One injury to a starter on the Dline, LB, or DB and we are weak at that position. We better be a healthy team.

Funny because the seldom times I happen to come across your posts, the first thing that comes to mind are...troll. So, which team do you really root for? The Patriots or the Dolphins? Def not a Bills fan. I can definitely see that. Going by the end of your paragraph rant there, I leaning towards Dolphins. Yeah, Dolphins for sure.

    Tenn ??!?!? At home?

Was I the only one that watched that game last year. We pushed them all over the field, In Tenn. Unlike Week 1 in Miami, or the KC game Favre was not the reason we beat Tenn.

And Now with Haynesworth in Snyderland, their going to be...better?

Honestly, in this matchup does losing Favre hurt us more than their losing Fat Albert ?

Miami? Depends...do you think our D is gong to better this year than last, and....If B.S. can go back to the real playbook instead of the Favre version, will their D be as effective against us?

And Houston? That's a clearly winnable game. I watched them play the other night, and using our starters performance against the Giants as a measure, I would say we should win that game. And if Schaub is hurt, so much the better..

We might very well lose those first 4 games if things don't fall our way, but no way are we losing on MNF vs. the dolphins.

So now someone cannot have an opinion unless it's a positive one?
I agree with him that if one of our starters on D goes down we'll need to pull some serious tricks out of the hat to win games... and Jenkins isn't the healthiest DL around (and we have two 30+ DE and D. Harris who does get hurt a bit too often...).
Hey, if it were for me I'd want to go 5-0 but we have to be realistic.

PS about Ryan: love the fat man to death but he IS a rookie HC so I don't expect him to manage the game perfectly from day 1. One thing is calling the D plays, another one is to manage a whole football team... the positive is I'm sure it won'ttake much for a guy like him into a competent HC on gameday...
