I am very interested as to how he addresses finding a franchise QB. I wonder if he addresses it in this draft or rolls the dice with Sanchez? I have to assume you draft one to add some more competition to this group.....
Well, good to see you back here, champion. Your positive posts and excellent logic has been sorely missed around these parts - especially that mature smiley at the end of your every post. Enough with the irony. Do you even realize how broken your logic is? Is Brady any less of a HOF QB, because 198 picks before him "proves" he was shit? Only 1 team wins the SB, are the other 31 teams losers? Are the 49ers a failed franchise? The Seahawks? Redskins? Your kids didn't become the best in the world at their professions, doesn't that equally make them losers by default too?
I like the article. As long as Idzik is respected among the NFL, that's fine by me. Let's hope it translates to long term success.
Took less than 48 hours for this article to be exposed as BS. Alex Smith for a 2nd rounder. Take notes, Johnny. That's how you do it.
Alex Smith the previous franchise QB? Or Alex Smith the recently injured, record of holding out, paid either 16M per year or walking into FA while still hitting us with a 9M cap hit in '14 CB? Thinking a CB asking for that much money is gonna generate as much of a bidding war as an above average QB is... pretty far fetched. ^^
I said this twice in the big Revis thread and I'll say it once more.... Teams value QBs more than CBs if they think they are a franchise QB. It doesn't matter how good or bad Alex Smith is, its a matter of if the Chiefs think he's a franchise QB. SF struck it gold by it being such a poor draft/FA of QBs and thus the ransom was high for Smith.
The long term hopeful franchise QB will most likely be addressed in 2014. This season for Idzik is all about getting Sanchez off the cap once and for all and starting fresh. Idzik is a shrewd enough football guy to realize that Sanchez isn't the answer now or in the future. He's just letting Sanchez bide his time until after the 2013 season and then he gets slashed or traded if anyone takes him. It's gonna be Garrard, Sanchez, McElroy and maybe another late round draft pick this year. However if there's any way the Jets get into the Top 3 in the 2014 draft then look out. That's where their franchise QB is.
Revis was available for trade all offseason, must because he's bad and nobody wanted him? Bill Cowher is available still, he must stink since nobody wanted him. Joe Flacco didn't even sniff the market for 1 millisecond, must be amazing because his team wanted. That logic is poor.
It's a QB league. We got a player coming off ACL injury for a 1st. That's another way to spin it without telling the full story which is what your post did. Yeah, he's looking forward. He looks like he wants to build a strong base for whoever and however that next QB shows up
I'm kinda wishing we gutted the whole thing and hired Idzik earlier so he could have brough Gus Bradley with him as the new HC I get the feeling we're going to see a ton of new faces
