@RichCimini · 3m A surprise: the Jets are releasing CB Bless Austin, per source (as @MikeGarafolo said). A few weeks ago, Austin called himself “the real deal.” Evidently the Jets don’t think so #Jets . This has gotta mean we are getting an upgrade via waiver wire or trade right?
JD has drafted 7 DBs and none of them were named Bless Austin. The issue is I'm not convinced he drafted anyone much better than Austin.
Wow I didn't expect this. Quinnen Williams is the only Maccagnan draft pick who Joe Douglas is going to build around. 2022 1st round CB to pair alongside of Bryce Hall is a 100% guarantee (imo).
Well he has been keeping his picks, by all rights Perine and Zuniga got beat out but are still on the roster. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Agreed. But wouldn't Austin be better depth than Pinnock or Sherwood? Maybe its a special teams thing?
browns fan said Redwine was a numbers crunch, solid backup safety. Going super young at corner. They much really like Echols/Pinnock…the two guys likely starting alongside Hall
One would assume. Sherwood is LB. but pinnock hasn’t looked as good as What I have seen from Austin Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He wasn't good. After two years in the league, it is safe to say that Austin is a bottom of the roster player that is getting replaced by another bottom of the roster player. With that being said, CB was always going to be a position of weakness for this team and I'd rather see them give the second CB spot (across from Hall) to someone new to see if they can stick.
Pinnock looked like rookie, bad penalty in last game. Not saying Austin was great, but from what I saw at camp, pinnock did not look better. Echols looked probably on par with Austin. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
And Austin hasn't? Austin was repeatedly benched last season for missing his assignments or getting burnt. He's mediocre at best.
The question is was he on the bubble over other guys and was this a wise move for DB depth. At least Austin has some experience.
Bit of a head scratcher given how weak we are at CB but Austin really isn't that good. He's a guy who seemingly thinks he's much better than he actually is.
It will make sense if we are making consequent move, so let’s see what happens. We may just go with youth, but may be painful. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
