That's true but normally you do not have to rebuild the country afterwards.

You make some good points but you Canadians at some point will be faced with the same problems that are now plauging our friends in Europe. Then again with such a small population maybe you won't.

You need to go back and re-read LongTimeJetFan's posts. We're all a bunch of idiots.

I'm smarter for NOT reading LTJF's posts....I learned that lesson when he used to beak off about how awesome Chad Pennington is.

This is too fucking funny! I was thinking the same thing while reading it. But this debate is almost like arguing with my ex-wife. I've never seen two people more ready to change the entire premise of what their saying on a dime like them. Fascinating!

You seem intent on lying. Where did I say Grant was a good president? I merely said I did not think him among the worst.

Lie some more. It seems to suit you.

Even though we have the highest immigration rate per capita in the world, people that come here, come here to work and contribute to society so I've never really seen a problem with it.

Please let me know when I lied. Point out what I said that was clearly intended to deceive anyone.

For someone that has a huge trouble recognizing fact from fiction you are very quick to accuse others of ourtight lies.

As I inferred to Johnny English subtlety is lost on you.

The problem is we've been spending trillions nation building in both Iraq and Afghanistan. I heard Arianna Huffington last night say we spend 2 billion dollars a week in Afghanistan and there are less then 100 Al Qaeda members still there.

Obama hasn't really done anything to help fix this nor do we seem to be having much success finding a 6'4 jackass running around with a dialysis machine and a used oil rag on his head.

"Besides, in this thread we have people that think Grant was a good a good president"

You know perfectly well we were talking about Grant yesterday. I never said Grant was a good president. I merely said I thought people were wrong to say he was one of the worst. You in effect said I said he was a good president.

    You lied.

Give me one example, just one, where I have confused facts with fiction.

Btw according to Webster's the use of infer as a synonym for imply has been considered improper since roughly World War I onward.

I am not suggesting I agree with the current Afghanistan policy, but it seems unfair to suggest the only reason we are there is to find Osama and the rest of al Qaeda. It is in part to provide stability to the country so that it does not again become the home base for the large terrorist organization that was there before, and was the base for the 9/11 attacks.

I also think it should be obvious the presence there is one Iran and Pakistan are very much aware of, and that is an intended purpose as well.

In any event I don't think you meant to literally refer to al Qaeda's presence only in Afghanistan. There are more in northwest Pakistan. More than 100? I believe so.

Am I the only one who thinks there is a striking parallel between Bin Laden and Emanuel Goldstein?

Grant's war buddies cornered the market in gold and put the economy of the entire country into a panic for several years. Rather than punish them, Grant pardoned them.

This is just one of a dozen major scandals that he helped cover up. He even testified in court and purjured himself to help his friends escape blame for their horrible crimes.

If you want evil rich republicans believe me, these guys were it.

    ---------------------

You said Grant was "one of the great heroes in American history".

What should I have concluded from this statement?

While you did not literally say that "Grant was a good president" you called him a great hero and defended him vigorously as I piled up significant evidence against him.

After reading your numerous pro-Grant posts how the hell was I supposed to believe that you didn't think Grant was a good president?

    ---------------------

When someone has completely lost an arguement beyond any possible measure I suppose that the Liar Liar pants on fire is all they have left.

    ---------------------

Perhaps you should quit while you are behind.

I don't have much of a stance on the debate here but winning the civil war was a pretty big accomplishment. Might even be worthy of calling the guy a "great American hero."-

No, I'd guess not if by and large most are coming and being productive. I'm not sure that rate means a hell of a lot in comparison to us though, considering that our number probably doesn't include the illegal component of people sneaking in. I mean, what country do you border again that has illegals sneaking over day and night?

So you are not aware that besides being president Grant was also the North's most significant military figure in the Civil War. I would think it obvious to anyone who knew that that the hero reference concerned his activities in the Civil War. Since you didn't know that, I profusely apologize for assuming you did.

    Well, not really apologize.

    Hi Liar.

This is apparently news to Hasty.

Maybe he went to school down South and they did not say nice things about General Grant.

    Hey Hasty!

Who is buried in Grant's Tomb?
