Seeing how the Bengals recently had a visit with former Bears and Cowboys free agent and model citizen, Tank Johnson, I question whether placing more emphasis on character considerations has really become a priority for the Bengals. If he does make it past the Bengals, I see the chances of his being passed up by the Raiders, Jags, Packers, Broncos and even the Skins (who just landed Haynesworth) as essentially nil. Of course, if by some miracle he made it to 17, he'd be an obvious BPA no brainer which is exactly what I think the aforementioned teams picking after the Bengals and in front of us will think.

You guys kiddin me with the BPA @ 17 stuff? If he makes it to pick 10 and you're the Jets, you try and engineer a coup.

Absolutely. He could (and probably will) be a top 5 pick.

Who the Hell gives a shit about weed in the NFL? The only thing teams drafting this guy(he's going in the top ten, don't kid yourself)are going to say to him is how to avoid getting caught for weed. He's a beast and most GMs/DCs are having wet dreams about what he can do for any defense. If we trade up to grab him then I'm all for it. Mike Mayock even likes him as a 3-4 DE. Imagine Raji, Ellis, and Jenkins on the field at the same time! I can see the pick now:

Goodell: There has been a trade. The New York Jets have acquired the 10th overall pick in the NFL draft."[5mins later] OK, Jet fans. With the 10th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, the New York Jets select BJ Raji, Tackle, Boston College...and there appears to be a note attached. "To Marshawn Lynch, LEAST MODE MOTHERFUCKER!"

In fairness to Raji, this report has been proven false and the NFL has specifically stated he DID NOT fail a drug test

How does stuff like this get leaked? teams trying to get him to drop to them?

There are people (NFL PEOPLE!!) who believed, and probably still believe till this day, that it was Don Shula (or his minions) who spread the rumor that Dan Marino was doing drugs at Pitt so he would slide to the Dolfags

I'm not saying it was Shula or his minions, but I vividly recall that being strongly suspected

Maybe it's Peria Jerry's agent spreading the rumor....:)

I wonder if a mod can just edit the title of this thread to something like "NFL refutes Raji drug rumors"

Maybe one of you guys can PM a mod about this?
