How do you explain the fact that Geno has never been a team captain? Not in the NFL, not once in college even. That's pretty absurd for a 1st round talent QB. And you're gonna brush this all off by saying he is respected and works hard? Where's your evidence?
It's getting pathetic at this point. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_West_Virginia_Mountaineers_football_team
I was actually quoting Stephen A. Smith on that. Fair enough. So out of 7 years he was captain once. Leadership.
After all these years Geno Smith is finally the answer ........to a great trivia question.... "Which Bust NFL QB had his jaw broken by a practice squad player?"
According to Wikipedia: 2009 - There were no captains at WVU 2010 - Captains were all seniors at WVU 2011 - Geno was a captain at WVU 2012-2014 - The Jets had no captains So really, there's only one year he was even eligible and he was one... assuming WVU only wanted seniors as captains in 2010. Two years if the seniors thing isn't true. Facts...
You assuming something doesn't make it a fact. I love your "the world conspired against Geno" angle though. I think at this point you're just trying to be funny with this. If not then you are getting really desperate with your excuses, at which point you should just stop and maybe, just once, think about whether Geno has ever done something wrong in his life, maybe that he's not a great leader, that maybe he's not the hardest worker on the planet, that maybe he isn't the most liked person in the locker room. Instead of keep looking for excuses, and keep blaming everyone else for any situation he doesn't handle properly.
He was a "captain" all 3 years he started at WVU. The rumor is that he wasn't a captain with the Jets not because Rex didn't have captains but rather because he got caught at the pool one day "half naked." Crazy but true he was actually outside in the summer with his shirt off!!! Unbelievable, I know. Also rumors are when he was little he was always captain for the "skins" team and rarely ever played for "shirts." What a horrible human being am I right?
No, me assuming something doesn't make t a fact you're right. But that's irrelevant. What I stated was fact. He was eligible two years total to be a captain at most. He was a captain for one of them. Yet you're here babbling about how in 7 years he's never been a captain. 1. Yea he has. 2. You're overlooking the FACT that for at least 5 of those 7 years, he wasn't eligible to be one. Potentially 6 years. No one thinks the world is conspiring against Geno. You made that up, like you do most things you say unless it's a link to a tweet from training camp. I don't care enough about Geno to try and defend him so don't act like I'm reaching to find excuses. They aren't reaches, they are facts, and I didn't have to try hard to find them... which means all you had to do was put a little effort in and you could have found them too.
Of course he would have if he had a capable QB with leadership skills. You don't think if Peyton played for us he'd be team captain? It wasn't his philosophy to not name team captains, he just didn't have any choice. There's a reason why the only 3-4 teams that don't have permanent captains in the NFL just don't have capable QB's with leadership skills.
Its Santonio Holmes' fault that Rex didn't name captains... well actually Rex's I guess because he was dumb enough to think Holmes was captain material to begin with
I just want to make it clear that I think Geno blows goat dicks at playing QB and I'm actually kind of glad he got knocked the fuck out. I don't really care to carry his torch, but ... this thread, man.
Eye black aside, I'm actually a tiny bit impressed that Geno is out chucking the ball around and keeping some kind of rhythm going. Hopefully he might return to camp as soon as medically possible (even if he has to stay out of contact drills) and start working with the team again.
