Bill Belichick had GOOD REASON to be pissed at ERIC MANGINI

As far as the Deion Branch thing, screw 'em. Let the war continue. We're gonna grow and improve and eventually kick their asses more often than not. That's the thing that really bothers Belichick the most... that we'll become such a thorn in their side that we might even own them down the road.

    Go Eric!

Belichick can certainly hold a grudge; he's got the memory of an elephant.

I read "Patriot Reign" by Michael Holley last month, and you probably remember that ESPN's Tom Jackson said on air that Belichick had lost his team after the Lawyer Milloy departure. Obviously, Belichick hadn't lost the team, but Jackson's comments really shook the Pats when they were made.

Well, after the Pats beat Carolina in the Super Bowl, Belichick didn't want to do an interview with ESPN. Berman, because of his relationship with Belichick, finally got BB to agree to an on air interview. So Belichick is walking up to the set, and Jackson decides to bury the hatchet and says congratulations to Belichick.

Belichick's two word response: "F... you."

    He kept walking.

The personality of a snake. Belichick is a "fair weather" friend. He likes you as long as you think exactly like him, act like him, agree with everything he does and do what he says (especially when it comes to taking a job with a competitor). He'd sooner hold Mangini down and prevent him from bettering his career and advancing to a HC position than wish him well and congratulate him, like a real man and true mentor ought to do. By acting like a disgruntled adolescent who didn't get his own selfish way, Belichick belittles himself in the eyes of the NFL, IMO.

If I were Mangini, it wouldn't bother me one bit that Belichick has soured on him. But he's probably already figured that out and who needs "friends" like that anyway?

Next handshake, Mangini should accidently fall on Belichick and maybe crush him, then not let the Jets medical crew attend to him.

Explains his chummyness with Nick Saban (and maybe Romeo Crennel).

If that had happened, Belichick would have traded her to Mangini in exchange for Mangini staying at NE.

Well put, and the reason several of us have been saying for a while now. When threads were started after the New England game about the BB/EM coldness, troll extraordinaire rajensen chimed in claiming that it was because EM was incompetent, and BB can't stand incompetent people. I replied then that that argument was ridiculous, since if BB thought EM was an idiot he would have happily sent him away, especially on to the Jets, rather than pressure him to not take the Jets job. To me it seems obvious that the coldness from BB (which IMO is very real) comes from the "betrayal" of EM going to the hated Jets, and the fact that those hated Jets now have a young and talented head coach.

I'm not sure why JoeJet is getting such grief in this thread for saying this, by the way.

Mangini shouldn't care what Belichick thinks.

Mangini was loyal to Bill when he was up in NE for long time he was. But an oppourtounity was given to him to be a head coach, even if it had happened to be a divison rival team. But he took it, and Bill should be wishing him luck for what he does now, and thank him for all he has done in NE.
