Your argument does hold some weight. They had arguably the best tight end to ever play in the NFL and two awesome receivers. Hard to believe how many times they've lost. They go out and get Stephen Jackson, who has aged, but still is a very effective back. Kinda shocking to see how often they lose.
I'm not watching him at this point. He looked like a good big mobile QB last year as a sophomore. There are about ten of those guys at the college ranks for everybody who turns out to be a star in the NFL. Lots of different circumstances play into that but the biggest one is that the NFL is one of the hardest competitions in the world and you have to get better once you hit the pros just to be the same player you were in college. Most guys can't do that.
I have a real problem with attaching a win loss record to a QB, theres more to the game then the QB position, and circumstances may not be what they seems based on the final result. For all I know Ryan's WR's could be making easy drops, or his O-line could be porous, or maybe he played well and got every inch he could but his Defense made his efforts in vain. I need to actually see this guy, get a good look at WHAT the circumstances of the falcons losses were, and how much was on him.
Jameis Winston is 21-0 in College Football AGAINST EVERYONE and just carved up the #1 defense in the nation.. But im sleep. LMAO
And this year Jaemis has thrown 16 TD and 9 INT while Mariota has thrown 24 TD and 1 INT. I'll take Mariota.
The fact that you think this is because of Winston is hilarious Lmao! Carved up the defense? No. He threw short passes that turned into huge gains because of the receivers. He also threw 3 interceptions and got lucky as hell to get one back off of a fumble. I'm an FSU alumni and a huge FSU fan. Don't sit here and claim the success this year is because of Winston. A lot of luck and a solid running game.
This is how I feel too. The Jets keep failing with the young QBs because they haven't taken the time to develop the offense. The Jets should take their QB if they can get him, but they shouldn't feed him to the Wolves until he's got his own pack to watch his back, and not get steamrolled in the process.
They both have red flags, honestly I don't think either will do much in the NFL, mariota does not make the throws that are expected from him in the NFL, and if it's Kap that he is being compared to, that is not really the kind of QB the jets need to run the WCO that MM uses. JW has some serious character flaw issues, the last thing the jets need is someone who is going to be a distraction because of his off field antics. The jets are probably going to have to sign a vet during the off season and see how the qb situation pans out, I sure don't know what the answer is at this point.
Winston is a great clutch college player but it doesn't mean he can transition to the NFL. I just get a Jamarcus Russell feeling out of him. Like he's not going to be in shape. If drafting Mariotta he probably shouldn't be an instant starter. The Jets need an instant starter so that's why we shouldn't start a rookie. Sign a good veteran and go back to the basics and rebuild the infrastructure.
That Louisville defense was #1 in the nation? You could have fooled me they looked horrible. Mariota is much better than Winston and hes a class act and never raped anyone
You're obviously a Noles fan, you've probably watched zero Oregon games, and black Jesus Winston is your avatar... so forgive us all if we don't think you have an objective opinion
Lmao @ "Black Jesus Winston" wow man, just wow. I've watched all of Oregons games with season while Mariota had to be bailed out multiple times by his defense and almost choked a few out himself. I saw Jameis is better our of pure fact and results.
