BOOM BABY, the combine is here. Weigh-ins today for O-Linemen, I'll post info as I see it, but here's the sched: WORKOUT SCHEDULE Saturday, Feb. 27 Group 1 (OL, SPECIALISTS) Group 2 (OL) Group 3 (TE) Sunday, Feb. 28 Group 4 (QB, WR) Group 5 (QB, WR) Group 6 (RB) Monday, March 1 Group 7 (DL) Group 8 (DL) Group 9 (LB) Tuesday, March 2 Group 10 (DB) Group 11 (DB) If I remember correctly, 40s are the day before their workouts.
Here are some OTs measurables: Oklahoma State, Russell Okung, 6'5/307, 36-inch arms Iowa, Bryan Bulaga, 6'5 3/8, 33 1/4 inches Rutgers, Anthony Davis, 6'5/323, 34-inch arms USC, Charles Brown, 6'5/303, 35 1/4-inch arms Maryland, Bruce Campbell, 6'6 3/8 and 314 pounds, 36 1/4-inch arms Oklahoma, Trent Williams, 6'4 1/2 and 314, 34 1/4-inch arms Hillsdale, Jared Veldheer, 6'8/312, 33-inch arms Abilene Christian, Tony Washington, 6'6/311, 35 1/2-inch arms per Rotoworld...
And on a completely different note, Bruce Campbell is going to workout like a freak of nature. Over 6-6, 314 lbs with 36 in arms? And we're not even to the lifting/running part of this sideshow of a workout. /drool
USC TE Anthony McCoy weighing in at 259 is huge. I think he'll have a very good combine, and could move up into the early second round.
Seriously? If there's a player who NEEDS to make his presence felt at the combine, it's Tebow. Teams see what he can do on the field; I don't understand how he can pass up a chance to show his measurables and sneak up someone's draft board.
None of the QBs are really. McCoy was told by Dr. James Andrews to not work out either. Pretty sure Clausen and Bradford are doing the same.
Ha, didn't you know? He doesn't need to work out, just ask the guys at this website. http://www.draft15.com/
Jimmy Clausen's toe is still a small problem, so it's smart for him to workout. I heard Sam Bradford started throwing last week, and his arm strength was incredibly weak. This was a chance for Tim Tebow to stand out. He'd probably run a decent 40 and shine in the bench press workout. Oh well...
why is the coverage only 2 hrs on NFLN? it was always more that that in the previous years. Am I missing something here?
You can only spend so much time analyzing measurements and weigh ins. Coverage will likely expand in the coming days when workouts are actually transpiring.
I hate Cablevison. I'd love nothing more then to get snowed in and watch the combine. Watch neither happen now.
Russ Okung just completely dominated the bench press drill by putting up 38 reps. This should solidify him as the top offensive lineman. I think he'll be a heck of a pass protector, but I still think he'll struggle in run blocking. Bruce Campbell (34 reps) and Anthony Davis (disappointing 21 reps) are the only guys with legitimate shots at passing him now. Mike Iupati had 27 reps, which isn't amazing, but still very good for an athletic guard. Arkansas offensive lineman Mitch Petrus, who's a converted fullback, tied the bench press record with 45 reps.
I'm glad to see big poppa Bruce putting up a good number, but I think after months of not giving Russ okung any credit I have to actually make him my top tackle. And as for Davis, I can't say I'm even surprised. That's what he is. A guy whose just not going to give max effort, even getting ready for something as huge as the combine.
