Honesty I don't wanna see guys get injured either, karma is a real bitch. In my younger years it was always fun to take shots are your rivals but knowing that a guy's livlihood can end on any play makes you change your tune. Now if we knock Brady out the game it's a different story because you get caught in the heat of the game but I don't ever wanna see anything long term. As far as teh 100% thing, I always looked at it this way. At the end of the season if you have enough wins your in the playoffs and there is no penalty for beating a team that is less then 100%.
New York Jets DL Kris Jenkins (knee) will have an MRI Tuesday, Sept. 14, after injuring his surgically repaired left knee in Week 1, according to Rich Cimini, of ESPNNewYork.com. There's a 50-50 chance he will be lost for the season, according to a person familiar with the injury. If there's no damage to the anterior cruciate ligament, Jenkins could miss only a few weeks. But if the anterior cruciate ligament is torn, he'll be looking at more surgery.
Last year the Jets lost Leon Washington and Kris Jenkins to season ending injuries. Their nickel back, Donald Strickland missed big stretches of the season. I wouldn't say they were completely unscathed last year. This year we've already seen a season ender to Pitoitua, who was in line to have a solid role on the defensive line. Now a potential season ender to Jenkins, and we already lost at least 1 game for Pace and Pool. Not a good start.
If anyone ever ends Brady's career he can just live off his Sugar Momma. Seriously though, I know what you're saying, on both counts. The Jets had the #1 defense without Jenkins most of last year, so I'm sure either way they'll be fine.
Obviously it's bad luck that he's gotten hurt (although a 350 pound dude with a history of knee injuries is not the most unlikely candidate to get hurt again). They're lucky that he was the only full time starter who missed significant time with injuries last year. Football outsiders lists the Jets as the second healthiest team over the past three years- tenth in 2007, second in 2008, second in 2009. The Jets offensive line started all five starters three years in a row, the first time that's happened in 14 years. Rick Gosselin of the Dallas Morning News does a similar injury analysis; he adds up the games missed by projected starters every year. He had the Jets losing 18 games total in 2009 (10 by Jenkins), which was fifth in the league and very close to first (14 games lost). http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcon...elin/stories/011510dnspogosselin.3f65455.html He also has the Jets as the second healthiest in 2007 (only 20 missed games, most by Vilma)http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcon.../nfl/stories/011008dnspogosselin.2b868ef.html , and the healthiest in 2008 (only 12 missed games, most by Eric Smith)http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcon...elin/stories/010709dnspogosselin.34d3911.html Most teams lose more like 40 games by starters over the course of the season. So it sucks for the team, it sucks for Jenkins, but good players will get hurt because it's a violent, physical game, and the Jets have been blessed with relatively good health for years (knock on wood) so we shouldn't bitch that much.
LOL! Good point. Someone else made a point about what happened last year, and I have to say, after disliking him for a long time, between last year and last night I have new found respect for Pouha.
Per PFT: On Monday night, Jets nose tackle Kris Jenkins twisted the same left knee that required the insertion of a new ACL. Though he eventually got up and walked off the field, he didn't return. And though the Jets are quietly optimistic, they're currently awaiting the results of an MRI that was conducted earlier this morning. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Jenkins was due to meet with Dr. Ken Montgomery after the MRI. Stay tuned.
I had to think there for a second. I thought we traded for one of the CJs over night. Its KJ as in Kris Jenkins.
Well the doctors wouldn't be optimistic if it was obvious. Like we saw in Hard Knocks they have a pretty good idea of what is up right away. When Pitoitua tore his achilles Rex knew about it right away even though they told Pitoitua that he still needed tests to confirm.
