Well it's good of you to think you know what's best for Kris Jenkins and his family. What if it turns out to be a sprain and he's fine to play next week? He should just quit on the team, his teammates, his career? Jenkins is a grown man. He can make his own decisions. None of us know what it's like to be in his position, or the position of any of these players at the tail end of their careers. Most don't want to walk away from the game. That being said, if it's a serious injury that ends his season, then I would expect him to call it quits.
I would be so happy if this guy isn't seriously injured but I'd just be shocked if he isn't given the way his leg was contorted on that play. We'll see.
Just have to hope it's a hyperextension or sprain of some kind. But 360 pounds twisting in that direction, plus Bart Scott falling on top of him can't be good.
Your wrong. He already proved he belongs on the team. Season was over for many when Jenkins went down last year. If he is done for an extensive period time its retirement time. Didnt he almost not come back this year? We need some big boys in this draft, a few of them.
As I actually said, it's time for him to prove he belongs in this league for 16 weeks. No, he almost retired last year. Rex had to talk him out of it.
Yea, Kris Jenkins is going to come out of the game after holding onto his leg for that long because of a sprain.
To be fair a sprain has varying degrees of severity. It is quite possible with his history and the fact the Jets were still playing well on Defense they just said discretion is the better part of valor. At this point it is all speculation as the Jets Dr's are optimistic this wasn't an ACL. As the report said above.....
They're optimistic but they're not certain. For this to be just a sprain and Jenkins to act like he did, it would seem to be the worst sprain in the history of sprains. My post was obviously based entirely on opinion, but I stand by it. The guy has made enough money and the Jets are going to give him a ring if they win this season regardless. How much more is playing for the rest of this season going to mean to him vs. having to explain to his kids why he cannot play with them because he wanted to play with some other guys instead. He's the one who had all the articles written about how important his weight loss and his health was to his relationship with his family.
current rumor has it at 50-50 im going with the 50 thats towards out for the year, he's a huge man and that didn't look good, forget if it was a more limber smaller player in that situation if he ends up able to come back and isn't out for the year it's more of a lucky break than anything with what ended up happening it sucks but im shocked (and relieved) we don't see this a lot more in games (linemen or backs getting legs pinned)
What "current Rumor" has it at 50-50? I've only see the tweet that the Jets doctors are optimistic about it not being a torn ACL. (Don't get me wrong, I'm still betting on the injury being season-ending, I'm just wondering if you were referring to any actual, specific, tangible "rumor" with your "current rumor has at 50-50" )
Some of the responses in this thread sound like they want Jenks out and are routing for him to be out for the year. I am hoping he was just tired and will start Week 2, but thats me.
http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/news/story?id=5569360 I don't post nonsense or make up my own rumors. And I'm not rooting for him to be out for the year, I was so upset when that play happened and the announcers said he was down. It's just knowing his past, taking into account his size, and then seeing what happened, it's probably season ending. I'd love for him to catch one extremely lucky break and just have it be a strain and have him maybe just miss a few weeks.
Jenks will be ok. He had a bad look on his face as if its the end of the world, but seeing him walk off on his own power without much of a limp was a good sign. I think he might miss a wk or two. Im calling it a sprain. Lets see what the MRI shows. Fingers crossed in any case.
Ahh, I didn't see that posted. Thanks. And I completely agree with the bolded. If I had to guess, I'd say it's very likely he's out for the season again.
Brady isn't 400 pounds. Besides, not every injury has the same affect. I just think it didn't seem like an ACL tear when you watch the play. I guess Im optimistic, but it seemed more like sprain than a tear.
