I say Carpenter but I admit that I haven't seen all that much of Lawson. I'm mainly basing this opinion on scouting reports. Carpenter has the strength and smarts to play the inside in a 34 defense.
You might want to reread that.... Lawson has played OLB, despite your insistance he hasn't. In fact, there is a lot of debate about that. He put on weight to go back to DE. Like 20 pounds. Still, at 240 or so, he's light as a DE on a 4-3. Critique him as an OLB, but that might be hard to do since you didn't realise he's played the position....
Yes, T-bird's right, Lawson has played LB. Read my article in the draft forum if you want to read more about him (plug plug). I'd take Lawson more for the 3-4, he's such a natural pass rusher, but Carpenter would be better suited to play in a defense that rotates between 43 and 34 a lot, so really, it depends on what our gameplan is.
LAWSON He is a hybrid so he could play OLB OR DE he is fast(supposely right around the 4.4 speed) and he hits hard the only thing is his coverage which with a little work could be good. If we do not take Williams at 4 this guy would fit in nicelly..I can not wait til April 29th..I WILL BE IN VEGAS BABY..Drinking bloody mary's at 10AM getting rid of the hangover wearing my Jets Jersey..
I wasn't aware of that. Maybe a guy so versatile in different defensive schemes is the guy to go with unless we are strictly a 3-4. But I think Mangini is going to deploy multiple fronts and schemes. With that being said I still like Lawson like most of you on this poll, I want that explosive player that can just wreak havoc on the opposing quarterback.
