The point is no one was good in the 70's compared to today. It's not like it is today where they are at 85%.
Turner kicked when the hash marks were wide, so really short FG's were sometimes harder than longer ones...
That wind was ridiculous though. Hall always seemed to struggle w/ kicks that could put us up 2 scores but if the game was on the line he was excellent.
I would say none of the above. Honestly I have never felt as comfortable with a Jets kicker as I do with Feely. Jets have not been blessed with one great kicker in my lifetime. I am truly surprised by the amount of love for Hall, that guy was the most frustrating kicker we have ever had. I felt more comfortable with him kicking a 50 plus yard fg then a 30 yarder. Feely needs to make a couple fgs in big spots to be considered but if he does I think he would get the top spot IMO. Right now Leahy is the top kicker by default but I wouldn't be surprised if we turn into a playoff team in the next 3 years that Feely doesn't take over the top spot soon.
once missed 2 FG's and 2 extra points in a game I was at, also 1978 Pats game missed 30 yard game winning FG on last play of game
I was at that game, killed our playoff chances. Let's not forget the Mud Bowl would have been played at Shea had Leahy not missed an extra point on the opening drive and a couple of FGs in a Saturday afternoon game in December 1982 at the Orange Bowl, Jets lost to Miami 20-19. Everyone remembers Richard Todd, AJ Duhe and the mud, few remember why the game was there in the first place.
It's like he had 2 different careers, his first 6-7 years I never understood why they didn't cut him, then he became Perfect Pat
